Small update. Kimbrough servo savers are on and joining bar made, tested them out, they work fine in tandem and don't fight each other.
New wheels have arrived home safely courtesy of a friends visiting your great nation.
Kyosho offset rod ends and balls have arrived, for steering links.
Pulled axles and measured. This proved tricky as Kyosho didn't make their axle housings true/square, one end of the tube is 20.05 and the other is 20.68 and just about nothing is the same from one piece to the next.
Billet round stock has arrived for axle mods.

More to come...

Axle wideners made and installed.
Wider front steering link installed with new offset rid ends.
New rear lockout done.
Servo mount finished
New wheels with tires mounted and on truck.
Suspension geometry rejigged front and rear.
Cut up axle shafts and fabricated extenstions, being welded together this weekend.

Sorry no pics, but just cramming to get it finished. Should have a test run this weekend.

If I ever see a lathe again it will be too soon...

Thanks mate. Hope it comes together. The axles should be über strong now, even though they are wider. Will gets some pics up at the weekend.
Fingers crossed for the welding to go ok, got to weld bright steel to hardened steel so it's a bit tricky.

Welding went well, so driveshafts are extended and have held up to a few test runs.
The steering still sucked, both the servo savers had to come off as even the Kimbroughs aren't strong enough. So gone to solid horns. Had to clearance the axle carriers to get more steering angle, which has made the wheels hit of the offset rod ends at full lock, so now had to make a new front drag link that has a offset in the middle to clear the diff and keep steering angle.

Hi guys, sorry the latest updates are taking a while, I'm at the debugging stage with the truck but I've been having some health problems again which have slowed things down.

But have made some good progress so I'll get you caught up...

New wheels... lighter and less offset to help with steering. So far they are a winner, very happy with them.

Yet more lathe work, made a set of four axle wideners (mentioned earlier) these make the axles about 30mm wider each side, so the axles are about 15" hex to hex.

The piece goes from the diff housing all the way to the end of the hub carrier, so makes the axle super strong. These took freakin hours to make, as they are an exact interference fit.

3mm alloy wall thickness plus the original axle housing

"Disco" Dave welding up the extended axles I fab'ed up. I can stick or MIG, but cant TIG.

New steering setup finished...

These had to have a nibble taken out of them, but other than that all fairly straight forward.

I just love reminding myself and damn big this thing is

Well, it only took 2 years, but she finally made it out to the local crawler meet. The guys seemed to like and seemed interested in it, which was kinda nice. Did feel good to finally use it in anger
Fitted the 6lb springs to the shocks, as she was a bit wobbly lol (yes its a she haha)

She digs holes in the ground that verge on terraforming...

Well, there she be, new friends an all.... Ladies and Gentleman I present to you, "Artemis: Goddess of the hunt, the hills and the forests"

That's bad ass. I need to get mine up and going again. Are two steering servos necessary? I'm only running one with jumbo kongs.

Excellent. Glad you got that worked out. I bet the steering is 10x better now.

Might as well make a video for us to see.

Oh definitely, I tried one and it wouldn't cut it, then tried a 1/4 scale, no dice. The dual 7980's with the revised wheels is the only things that cuts the mustard. I think it she shear weight of this sucker that makes it so difficult.
