| My Traxialosho, The tuber Monster build
Hi, Here are some pictures of my very first tuber, "The Traxialosho" :-) As the name sugest the truck is built up of a combination of Traxxas, Axial and kyosho parts. To put it short the setup is as follows;
Electronics are still to be decided... (sugestions?) First picture I took; Mock-up of front axle Some more tubes and suspention mounts And here are some pics of where I'm at today; What do you guys think? P.S. Sorry for my bad English! Last edited by jlhustad; 03-29-2013 at 02:46 PM. |

| Re: My Traxialosho, The tuber Monster build Had it out for a test run! The reciever is not in it's correct position and the body posts are still to be made. I used the Traxxas Velineon with a 3s 5000mah Lipo. One thing that grabbed my attention is that the diffs unloaded one wheel (random side) waaay too easily. Now, I'm using the stock diffs. After the run I opened them up and found that there was no silicone/oil in there (just some old gray grease). What experiences have you guys got with diff-fluids? |

get a set of cross pins and bevel gears for the diffs and fill them with 60K-100K silicone oil. it won't lock but it'll definitely not unload.

Getting some diff oil next time I'm by my local hobby shop. I'm also considering locking the center diff.. On a different note: I found the 3s Traxxas Velineon system to be a bit on the slow side. What ESC/Motor combo would be better? I'm considering the Mamba Max because of the 540 motor size will be a direct fit. Has anyone any suggestion to which ESC/Motor combo I should go for? |

Tekin RX8 esc. Can't go wrong with that. You could throw in a Pro4 HD or even a T8 1/8 scale motor. Go for a 1400KV or 1700KV on 4S. Would be kick ass and you won't be complaining about speed again |

there are lots of options. from hobbyking to tekin. just depends on the money you want to spend. you can spen $100 on a whole system. or close to $400.

| Little update
Hi peeps, Here is a little update on where my truck is at today. I replaced the old 3s system with the short course setup from CC. I'm running it on 4s and its given a fair bit of additional torque. I still could use a bit more power, but I've realized that will always be the case with the VXL trannyin the truck. Its by no means slow or lazy,but for the next build I'll go for 1/8th scale power from the get-go. Oh, btw the old shell is history... great look, but did not survive long :-( It's now got the good'ol Parma Bigfoot body on it. The new shell is not looking great, I just wanted to test a couple of painting methods.. [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Yep, the cage has taken a beating, why look, there is even scale rust on it :-P Ah, how could I forget, here is a couple of tips for the MF/TF people: 1. If you try to lock the diffs with some super-duper glue, they break after a couple of a couple of runs. Especially in the rear (now running a SuperShafty spool)... 2. zip-ties, makes for scale looking limiting straps! (yep, I popped the caps of the shocks a couple of times).
