Default My new Twin crawler

Well with a time limit of only one week, I picked up a Twin Force at the LHS on sunday, and this is how far I have gotten on it. Its supposed to be going at this sunday's bash. Hope it makes it in time lol.

I have a e-maxx trans for it, just need to make the mounts if I want to use it. Might also just use the stock trans with a GD-600 and extended bones. Haven't decided yet. Also trying to come up with a clean looking steering servo mount for the front. The rear is locked out. so far I haven't had to mod any parts except for drilling 4 holes in the chassis plates for the upper link mounts. I wanted to see if I could do this without hacking it all up.

I have had good luck with 6-32 links in the past. If they break, I will upgrade. Plans are to have 4ws eventually, but I wanted to keep it simple so I would have a chance at having it done for sunday. Might have to throw it together stock real quick for sunday though lol.

Looks like you need some more triangulation with either your uppers, lowers or both. Your axles are gonna walk all over the place. Other than that looks like you got a clean build going. Personally I feel you need bigger links but stick with what works good for ya.

Yeah I have since re-done the whole thing. It now uses 2 transmissions so that front and rear is independant, and the upper links are triangulated to the trans mounting plate.

Basically with that setup I can run the front and rear axles at whatever speed I want. I can have full throttle on the front, and half on the rear if I want.

But for now, I just built the truck back to stock so I can run it Sunday, then its back to building it up custom. I am wondering what it can do stock anyways. Well stock with locked diffs anyways.

A stock Twin is fun! It'll still go everywhere as long as the diffs are locked up. We had a guy run his stocker for quite a bit.... thing was a blast to drive, mostly because it kept right up all the time.

I love my stock twin! Only wish it was about 3" longer.

Neweramodels makes a double-extended TwinForce frame (in the MadForce section) that'll lengthen it 2". They have extended driveshafts too which you'll need.

I've also seen a couple guys make a rectangular plate that bolts on to the stock support-arm holes for the same extra length. Might've seen that on MadForce.net.

yeah the wheelbase is the only thing that really hurt me, and only on the hill climbs. Other then that it blew me away for sure with what it could do, and I was on custom cut stock Maxx tires.

I've got the REVO shafts, brakeline tubing, some of the ends, and allthread. Just need the time and a few more ends, then its going to get 4 linked, 4ws, etc. I plan on reversing the motor/trans plate for better weight distribution.

Thinking about switching to an e-maxx tranny. I always get hung up on the chain guard that hangs down! Kind of gets annoying!

I've done some amazing (to me anyway) stuff so far, Just want a set of Jumbo Swamp Dawgs and a gd600 and I think it will do much better for my style of driving.

I made the motor plate so that I could slide the motor over far enough to run a 10 tooth pinion to gear down, and then I am running Maxx tires. For power, a Johnson 550 from a black and decker 7.2v drill gets the tires spinning. I am running one 6 cell pack as well. It still will do 8-10 mph I would guess, and you can spin the tires all day long when needed. Seems to be about the perfect gearing. Some of the guys in the club where giving me a hard time because they said it was too fast to be a crawler, but they were just mad I could spin the tires fast enough to clean them out when needed, and could make it a couple places because of wheel speed they couldn't. It was kinda fun leaving rubber on the rocks lol.
