Score!!!! Project 1/6th Jeep Rescue

So, i scored this at a garage sale over the past weekend. My wife found it on craigslist! Man do i love that woman! "hey babe, would this be a cool body for a scaler?" "damn i love you!!!"

i just cant decide on what tires to use.. 2.2 redrocks on pedes actually look a little small but kinda mean!

Narrowed revo rims with Nylint tires (tires need to be trimed to be any kinda use). They look a little to tall but they get the axle up out of the way and give it that toys r us bling factor... im still undecided but i like the ground clearence. "thumbsup"

All of the lights came prewired from the factory and work! the Wheelbase is at @ 18"! im going to run my clod axles under her for now and may upgrade to txt axles later but for now this will do! i intend on having this thing done this weekend! its going be pretty ugly and i will probubly set up the suspension so i can run both wheel setups. im going to rob my 805BB winch from...

...for now cause that thing will not be done for a while and im sick of not having anything to drive! :x thoughts and or ideas?

Go with the revo wheels for sure.

chrisjlittle 03-06-2008 07:03 PM

How do those jumbo kongs off your snowblower look? Actually, I'd go for those revo rims. Just strip the chrome off and dye them black, that would look awesome.

Grizzly4x4 03-06-2008 07:11 PM

Dang, I need to build my 1/6 Tahoe.
The size of the Revo rims and Nylint tires looks right but it looks like it's rollin in da hood. Different wheels would look better.

Great find though, I really like the Rescue. That's how I got my Tahoe, the wife found it for me. "thumbsup"

Holy poop! So I want to see this thing and possibly ride on top of it."thumbsup"

If your going this big I better be able to ride it!

JavelinSST390 03-06-2008 09:17 PM

Holy crap! That thing is HUGE!

You could almost put some 40-series Slingers under that....

Seriously dude get building! It has been how long and you still don't have a hip smasher"thumbsup"

SACCO 03-12-2008 12:12 AM

Dye the chrome revo wheels black and they will come out black chrome.

lizard017 03-12-2008 12:41 AM

yalare all nuts, other than the ground clearence isssue with the axles, i think the red rocks look spot on, just the rims look a little small, but i could picture a 1/1 with those tires, the rims with the nylant tires look way to tall, cant you see it.

Toph 03-12-2008 06:33 AM

I would deffinatly say put some 40 Series Mudslingers under it. That body is way to tall to put 2.2's under, they look tiny. Or some Jumbo Kongs would look good. Just my opinion.

TwistedXT 03-12-2008 12:55 PM

yeah.. jumbo kongs are WAAAAY too big. looks more monster truckish.. the 2.2 red rocks are the perfect size but the rims are a bit small.... for fun, i blacked out the center of the Revo rims and trimmed the Nylint tires cutting off every other lug.. i have the chassis build and mounted to the body.. just working on links and then a winch mounting point and partial exo cage.. ill take some pics when i get home... i hope to have her done really soon here. with a kiddo on the way, free time is very VERY limited right now.

The Redrocks look sick but the Nylints give her the ground clearence that is well needed... problemd being. the Nylint tires can only be for bashing.. the 2.2's are allowed in all contests so i will be making the suspension adjustable to allow both sets of tires....

tomorrows agenda - exocage, winch points and winch mount

TwistedXT 03-12-2008 05:58 PM

so.. here is some tech and more pics for ya!

this is what i did to the rims (Revo) I taped off the trim ring and slowly painted the flat black on the front and the backside of the rims to clean them up. it took a bunch of light coats to get it to stick.. even thought the first rock will probubly just scrape it right off.. which is all good...

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...0307081431.jpg

Here you can see that the body came pre wired up with head lights and brake lights..

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...0312081641.jpg

not to mention it has front and rear winch fairleads that could be used to run a winch through for scaleness.... for now.. i will just run the winch out the front and have a moch winch hanging out the rear.. it will go to the frame for a tow point.. but thats it for now.. ran outta channels on the Rx)

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...312081642a.jpg

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...0312081642.jpg

here you can see that the top of the roof rack is set to accept lights and i will be installing led's and associated wiring to do so.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...312081642b.jpg

here is the chassis that is going to tie everything together.
Clod axles and 2.2 red rocks for comps and the revos will be for fun. Im still deciding on which shocks to use.. traxxas or savage.. maybe a combo... i dunno yet.. will figure that out later.

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...312081641a.jpg

Low ride-a!!!!!

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...0312081640.jpg

was just checkin to see that the wheels line up in the wheel wells at full flex (the chassis is upside down right now while install the links)
