I am not sure if I will go with the exact pannels. I might want to change the color or something. Dont know yet. I will have to see once I get it closer to completion.

I need some help on a gearing queston for this. I am wondering if any one would know what the best pinnion gear to get if I am running a 28 tooth gear on an output shaft? I have talked to Traxxas and they gave me a ratio of 37:13 for both the front and rear diff's. I am thinking of running a dual HH puller motor setup. I don't know much about the gearing aspect of RC's yet, and just need a little guidance. Thanks in advance for any help! |

which transmission are you using? HH pullers are 1834 rpm/volt..5 to 10 volts...how much u gonna run?...28 tooth pinion? i would work from both ends, math wise tire dia x 3.14=rollout or circumferance if u know top speed..mph,convert to in/min then divide rollout into distance /time for a guess at rpm at top speed divide by axle ratio (2.84 in your case) divide be trans ratio now u got required trans input rpm rpm of motor (at max rpm) to rpm of trans (required input rpm) these two numbers will be a ratio...required ratio of pinion to spur then find the ratio on a "ratio chart" or make your own and presto...pinion and spur! if you give more info i'll be glad to help G |

RobCam double subsciption, I hope that I can meet your expectations. I got a few more progress pic's today. All I can say is that ecoli is doing one H%LL of a job on this, can't say enough good things about his work. I will let the pic's do the talking: |

ok so been p/m ing with kev bout our 1/6 rock racin rigs but i thought everyone would appreciate the math for overall gearing / top speed >to start with tire dia.....8.26" in this case X 3.14 to give you the distance of one revolution.........which is 25.9" in this case now we take the axle ratio of 2.84:1....so 25.9" divided by 2.84 =9.13" per 1 revolution of the driveshaft >now the other end of the drivetrain the motor(s) 10T HH pullers with 1700rpm/volt run on a 3s lipo(full charge of 12+v but we can use this for example)so 1700 x 12 =20,400rpm >now we can take the max rpm x "/rev which =186,252 inches per min ok we can cheat and skip the conversion and use this http://www.onlineconversion.com/speed_all.htm and plug in that big number into inches/min and convert to miles/hourand get 175.375 miles per hour and thats what you will have IF you tried going direct drive.....that will never work but heres the easy part now >ok so we got 175mph and you want a top speed of say 35mph just divide the two and in this case end up with exactly 5.00 :1 >say you want crawler speed say a top speed of 15..175/15=11.666:1 overall >if you have a transmission that you are using you can figure out the pinion/spur ratio off of this number also >we'll use a easy number first like the first one...5.00:1 >and a simple trans ratio of say 3.00:1 5/3 =1.666 thats the pinion and spur ratio needed |

I like the speed of 2nd gear, but like the slow performance in 1st gear too. I can get air in 2nd (about a wheelbase worth) but nothing spectacular. I'm debating going with a brushless inrunner. I'm fairly postive I have a Hacker C50-7XL here somewhere, I just don't think the TXT axles would like that too well.

I have studied your build in great detail and I have to admit that it was a big factor when I decided to build mine this scale. That rig has set the mark for what I hope to accomplish with mine. I had seen it sitting on a shelf disassembled in the background of some of your pic's and hoped to see it running again. I think you made a wise decision to get it back running. I hope we can see some video in the near future, so I will be following your thread in anticipation. Thanks for the interest everyone, and a little birdie ( ecoli ) told me that the chassis is complete so pic's should be up soon.

Looking great!! Just how big is this thing? Can you put something in the picture to show some scale? A beer would be a good reference.

I don't have the frame in hand yet, but maybe ecoli can post up one with something for reference. The motor that is in the rear is a 1/6 scale liberty classic measuring about 6" in length and 5" in width. That might give you and idea of scale.
