1:6 Gladiator

This thread will cover the build-up of a 1:6 Jeep gladiator pickup.

Specs (subject to change):

Axles: Raptor 2
Motors: Integy 55's
ESC: EVX
Battery: Dual 4000 mahs 14.4 volts
Servo: undecided
Suspension: 4-link, possible 5-link (track bar)

A member here, rockhugger, is building the frame for me right now. Once i received it, the build begins.

But for now, i need opinions on suspension height. Keep in mind, i want to start small and be able to upgrade later (tire size, lift, etc). This is also gonna have alot of speed since the raptor axles are geared really high so COG is important.

1/2" lift:

1" lift:

These are not the only choices. I can lower or raise it to different heights. Feel free to share your opinion on which you like best, or which would be best for the rig being built.

Thanks!

I would go with the 1" . This will give a better aperance and will alow for more articulation and less body rub.

Man I have always wanted on of these to tweek on but could never find on......I would go with the 1" lift. Looks more scale with that wheel and tire combo"thumbsup"

I know, i found this a year ago and grabbed it regardless of it's cost cuz i know they were rare.

I like the 1/2" stance myself but it's all going to boil down to what it looks like with suspension and the frame under the body.

Yeah I agree. The plan is to do the coil/shock setup that TJ and JK's run. I'm not sure exactly what the Gladiator was supposed to come with. I haven't picked out which coil springs yet or shocks cuz i don't know what the rig will weigh when i'm done but i'm thinking in the 18 lb range.

ya, just a empty shell it's all i had at the time and had to get it rolling. new 4 link and axels and coilovers. I'm working on new chassis but kinda got put behind comp 2.2 and mrc. it has 55 turn but going to run brushless.

Is there a build thread for that one?

BTF 01-04-2009 11:31 AM

No sorry. I have a few pix. this was a can't sleep build, you know my neighbors love me at 3am with my air saw and compressor running...:ror:

FINALLY am able to work on this. I had to wait quite a while for the frame but it was worth the wait.

Dimesions: 28" x 12" with 19.5" wheelbase.

Parts, parts, and more parts.

Upgraded heim joints. The picture shows my first 1/6 JK wrangler's control arms. The heims on those arms snap like pretzels so in order to remedy that we gotta go with unbreakable tie rods that are twice the size. we all love BEEF!

Next I'll be measuring for the long arms and then cut some tube and threaded rod.

More pictures to come.

Yea this isn't chit chat....def tech and a build. Wonder why it's here also?

muddeprived 04-13-2009 09:58 AM

Last post before today's post was in January. Could that have something to do with it?

Don't think so, if that was the case then every finished or project thread would end up in c.c.

muddeprived 04-15-2009 04:00 AM

4.5 hours later and the rear is done.

Need to get some 3/8" tubing on those long arms and then it's on to the front.

muddeprived 04-15-2009 04:02 AM

Can a moderator PLEASE move this thread back to the clod forum, or the large scale forum? It's not doing much in chit chat.
