| 1/6 Jeep + Xfactor Axles >>Will Tamiya 3spd handle this?
I am rebuilding a chassis under the 1:6 NewBright Jeep body I have. Xfactor axles. Home machined Delrin/Alum chassis. Trans/Motor under the hood with shaft to transfer case (parts undecided and unfunded yet) I want to do light crawling, mudding, but with a little wheel speed. I have a Tamiya Highlift 3spd sitting on the shelf. Straight stock, bushings, low miles. I was going to sell it, but wonder if it will hold up to the stress of moving this beast. I am not familiar with the 3spds and have not gone beyond 2.2 in size in my builds yet. Thoughts/Feedback? Last edited by sweli; 01-26-2009 at 02:18 PM. |

You might want to change the stock bone yard bushings out for some top quality rubber seal bearings that way you dont end up dusting your bearing set, might want to use a little marine grease. You can also go the route of RC4WD R2 2 Speed tranny, it is around $79.99, not bad for a tranny with metal gears and 2 speed.

I watched an R2 2spd go through the ads and almost jumped at it, but need to wait for all that stimulus to trickle down LOL. Too many other project right now. This ones on hold for the right parts to jump in front of me. Maybe two Emaxx 2spds...hmm. thx |

Yea, an e-maxx or summit tranny will definatly hold up. the summit tranny is a huge gear reduction in 1st too.
