Thanks. Just a few pics. Painted some stripes and welded my first test bit of aluminium. That kind of went well so the metalwork can begin next week.

Got the rear frame made today, accurately bending 4 identical aluminium ribs was fun. It took about 5 hours to do that and lots of cursing. The welding was straight forward though, a couple of hours and it was done. There's loads more metal work to do yet. |

It isn't difficult Kronic, planning and getting all the pieces held in position is the hardest part. It's just like soldering. Hey mate. It's 8mm solid aluminium and aluminium welding rods. Like Durafix.

A few more pics, the cage is done now. I just have to decide on a covering material. Whatever it is, it'll have to either be water resistant or quick dry. |

If I was to start from the beginning again I would have made the axles less steep, I like the height but I still cant figure out how to do the steering drag bar properly. I cant see what all the fuss is about the durafix aluminium welding rods either. It seems a lot of people can't get the stuff to melt, I only used butane / propane gas and had no problems with it. You really should get on and build something Kronik, it's winter so it's the perfect time to crack on with a project. Thanks man, see above. Have a play with some, fairly easy to make stuff. Quote:
Bought some natural colour canvas this morning, I've never sewn before so that should be a laugh. :? Last edited by Neeley; 01-05-2010 at 09:16 AM.

I'm exactly the same, it makes so much more sense with pics. The low heat aluminium rods are from ebay, the gas is from a local hardware store. It's only butane propane gas, you can get it anywhere. Search YouTube for "Durafix", it's the same stuff. I made a wee diddy fire extinguisher.
