I'm pretty sure it's the same thing as the e-maxx tranny. If its not, the maxx tranny will probobly be cheaper. Though 2 speed is very nice!

the new emaxx trans comes as a one speed. with the second gear as a option.

I dont know what gear ratio is in the e-maxx tranny, but the summit has a 80:1 first and a 25:1 secound gear
so you could crawl or race/bash, but not sure if it could handle my rigs 15 pound+ weight

I can weigh mine, but I'm pretty sure the Summit's weight is around 15lb (probably just under).

I seriously doubt the Summit is 15lbs. I switched out all the electronics and put mine on lipo so its even lighter. It weights less than my comp rig. Ill let everyone know what the tranny will hold up to. I have a Holmes 7t puller comming thats going to finish it off. I have already seen some brushless summits on youtube and they didnt blow up on screen but who knows afterwards. Just remember not to shift it when under power.

Read a post from someone who weighed theirs: 11.2lbs.
Wasn't too far off...

rc4wd sells metal gears for the emaxx trans, if that doesent hold up nothing will. my emaxx crawler is 18 pounds with stock gears and it has not broken. i also have a freind with twin mamba max brushless and it can handle that power, the summit is the same trans same gear ratio as the optianal two speed open ratio. i have a 3:1 gear redution with the 80:1 gear ratio.

rbgerrish is currently building a 2.2 Jeep Dorkstar Jeep 2.2 using a Summit Tranny. I realize his 2.2 is lighter
than 15#, but he might be able to tell you what he thinks. Just a suggestion.

My e-revo uses the same tranny. And set up for crawling with batteries & wheel wieghts it is tipping the scales at over 13 lbs. The 2-speed is nice for crawling. I've snapped seven half-shafts but never had any trouble with the tranny. It is pretty strong. The only complaint is the slop in the gears w/ the 2-speed. when you crest over a ledge it rolls forward a little. It's managable once you get used to it, but it is annoying.

I'm running one, as posted above. Havent driven it yet in my rig, but it sure is nice in the Summit, and I can only imagine the cool factor once it's moving in a vehicle half the weight! Imagine a 186:1 crawl ratio, then hit 2nd and go to 67:1! Talk about the best of both worlds!

I've run my truck briefly with the summit tranny. It weighs 10 lbs, and I tested it with a 3500kv velineon and both a 2c and 3c lipo. It was geared 65/11 or so. All I can say is....WOW! 1st gear was great- plenty low for crawling, and the top end for that gear was about as fast as a regular crawler with a 45T and a 3c. (Pleasantly peppy) 2nd gear was another story! Serious speed, but still enough gearing that if you were in some mud and gunned it, you'd have major roosts. VERY fast top end, which was to be expected with that vast a gear ratio difference. I briefly geared up to around 15 tooth pinion, and on 3 cells the thing was insane in 2nd. I'll have video in a week or so...

So far I love this tranny! I'd recommend a BRUSHED fast motor though, to eliminate some of the brushless cogging I experienced in 1st gear, even with the massive ratio.
