| WHat SPur gear Pitch is best ?
Steel , Aluminum, Kevlar, Delrin, tempured plastic ? I just installed Robinson internals in my axial tranny after stripping the stock Idler for my Super and was Crawling at Fordyce trail and busted my hpi carbon 90 spur :-( I'm thinking that a 32 pitch is the most reliable for the weight and torque of these monsters Do I go with Steel or Aluminum 48 pitch or use 32 pitch kevlar ? Axial tranny steel outputs Robinson Aluminum internal gears Thanks Last edited by toy4crawlin; 08-19-2009 at 01:25 PM. |

On all my more comp level rigs with all the wheelspeed and torque from the Pullers I have switched over to 32 pitch gearing. You can get 32p spurs made of delrin from http://http://www.servocity.com/html...unt_gears.html They are thicker at 3/16" also. I have found that especially with the torquey Puller motors, 32 pitch also helps when the motor plate flexes and pulls the tooth contact a bit out of whack. The deeper grooves of the 32p gear allows some movement between the pinion and spur. |

right awn thank you what ratio you guy's running ? I'm at 6.4:1 spur pinion about 55:1 total Something to bookmark Here's a very cool Tool, very easy and adapts to just about any RC to do the gear, speed and rpm,gear calculations http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_top_speed.html |

had some 32 pitch on hand, 48 pitch 90t/14 =6.4:1 -- swap to --> 32pitch 66/10 = 6.6:1 Crawling Great again might try 64/18 =3.5:1 for racing |
