1x 24inch custom scaler chassis (Thanks Greg aka Nightcrawler Customs!)
2x Dusty Clod Axles
1/2 Axial Betty Body (Thanks Rizzo!)
4x Shocks from a Twin Force (Thanks Rizzo!)
1x Trip to McFadden Dales Hardware
1x Day off work

The Dauntless

16inch WB - The 12inch ruler is on the tires for scale

Having never owned a clod and this being my first build with clod axles i was kinda stumped about shock mounting. I wanted this as scaleish as possible so i tore the axles apart and ran longer screws thru the front tube mounts on the front and rear axles

The rear links only turned out 9.5 inches eye to eye. I really thought they would end up being longer. The way the mounts on the axle and chassis lined up the rears are all the same length. This means something cool i just dont know what

The front links were a combination of stuff i had here. I want to stretch the front another 1/2 - 3/4 forward just for appearance but it will also help approach angle. I would have done it now but i already woke the GF up with the dremel in my office once, lol. The skid i got from Greg with the chassis is a work of art and i couldnt bring myself to chop it up so ill save it more another project. This one i had laying here from a tuber until i make another without the extra holes in the bottom.

Flex shots. Its not heavy enough to do a normal flex shot but this thing has HUGE articulation. Should be lots of fun.

Its still a LONG way from done. Waiting on 17mm wheel adapters. I still have to work out servo mounts on both axles and get the steering done. Figure out battery locations, etc etc etc...

This is the first scaler-ish build i have done so any ideas are more than welcome

Got a little work done on this beast. Decided its going to be more of a flatbed hauler type recovery vehicle. Got the 17mm adapters for the clod axles and started work on the bed and servo mounts. Im still iffy on the body, not in appearance, just in size, dont know if its going to be wide enough to not look funny with the bed.

It doesnt look really very scale but it also needed to be very durable and light. I might have my dad cut something out of delrin later with the epilog or use some scale diamond plate over the steel material but i really wanted to make some progress and keep this moving forward so i just dove in.
