My first design.

I built the mini "Spider 9" as a rear axle housing.

http://moon.ap.teacup.com/robotics/img/1251940084.jpg

Made from SUS304 because I want to put link mounts by soldering.
But the backside cap is made from A5052.

Twin Force's gear is inside.

super mud 10-26-2009 07:26 PM

Holy $hit! That axle is sick. did you get the idea from the other build on here? Is the front diff gonna be unlockable? and how big are the moabs up to it cause it would be nice if you could get the proportions just right like the design in the drawings

Siggy 10-27-2009 02:53 AM

The rear axle looks proportionate and clean. I like the way the mounts are made. 非常に素晴らしい! "thumbsup"

TKPN 10-27-2009 10:07 AM

Thank you guys :-P

Battery is NiMH 18 cell or LiPo 6cell.
But I always play by NiMH 12 cell that's enough.

This axle housing is just 1/6 size of "3-1/2" OD x 1/4" Wall " of spider 9.
Exactly, front diff will be unlockable."thumbsup"

ありがとう.
I decided to build a new axle Because RC4WD's axle is bad proportionate.
But building was very hard, I don't want to build again.

Sure will not be easy to fab as it will require the interest, time, skills, and access to the right tools. Me I am just grateful for what is available from vendors here and try to work things out.

RC4WD's axles looks fine at 1.9 and 2.2. Plus the gears are quite durable and axle casing tough enough for a beating. And if something breaks, replacements are within reach.

That said, it would be interesting if the Black Widows were widened for a 1/6. It surely will look even more proportionate and super scale. Also, if they can integrate a panhard mount design similar to 1:1 as you did, I think it would be most appealing to many. "thumbsup"

The top & bottom surface of RC4WD's axle are parallel.
Therefore, I could not admit it.
And, the aluminum's soldering is too hard for me.
