looking at the traxxas velineon system, but also looked at the venom 4200 waterproof brushless system

looking for a waterproof system and prefer brushless

any thoughts.
Good to see it back in your hands

If you're going brushless, I think you'll be disappointed with the velineon or venom system in this truck. Both are made for 1/10 scale rigs, so the performance won't be there.

I'd recommend a 1/8 brushless system. Both Castle and Tekin make some good 1/8 shortcourse brushless systems. If you're looking to do mostly crawling with some high speed runs, go with Tekin (sensored motor).

Some time back, I plugged-in a MambaMonster, 1/8 Castle-Neu 2200KV, and 6S, on a Large Scale Rig. The drivetrain manage a couple of warm-up passes, a few wheelies, and a summersault before the Traxxas Plastic Driveshaft and the stock rear axle idler gear, failed. Nevertheless, the experience was totally exhilarating!

I'd recommend visting here: SuperShafty.com and possibly pm'ing him (he's a vendor on rcc) about recommended set-up. Brushless stupid speed is possible without destroying the drivetrain, although you might need some more upgrades

I run a speed passion 2500kv (Speed Passion | Motor|*) in my IFS KOH truck. I also run a Summit tranny on 3s and use a Mamba Max Pro esc. It has tons of power and wheel speed and runs warm at most. In first gear the thing is a stump puller and is extremely well controlled being it is a sensored motor. I highly recommend this setup. The 1/10th stuff isn't going to have enough grunt to get that beast moving. Unfortunately, it's not waterproof.
