| 1/6, 1/5 and 1/4 Killer Krawler
Ok, did my research, the 1/6 scale has shorter arms, the 1/5 scale has the same size arms as the 1/4 scale, but the only difference is the 14mm hubs for huge 9 inch tires for the 1/4 scale and 23mm hubs for the 40 series 8" tires 1/5 scale version. looks like just a tire change makes it a 1/4 scale. I have the 1/5 scale with the 40 series 8" rock crushers, and according to rc4wd 1/4 scale measurements, my truck is only 1" shorter, but the 1/4 scale tires would make it a wopping 21.45" wide. The Turing radius has got to suck on those. I already have to to a lot of backing up maneuvers with 1/5 scale for crawling. I can also see them getting stuck a lot and cause major stress to the servos. Another issue I'm having is the 540 size motors, the Novak fifty five t's are too weak, especially the rear motor when crawling and all that aluminum weight is putting stress on it. and that's with two roosters and individual 5400 mah lipos. would integy lathe 75t motors do it, or better gear ratio whith a smaller pinion? |

I have a spider crawler with 40 series rock lox on it. I also added weight to the wheels (stupid decision) I have 2 55T motors with 2 GRU to get the desired torque.

here's a video on my issue. sorry for the choppyness. my phone sucks. So the front axle has good torque going forward, but not in reverse. the rear has good torque in reverse, but not in forward. the weak axle barely moves. I have a 5 channel reciever and transmitter that i can try so that I can reverse the polarity in the rear motor wires in case the problem is in the rooster esc programming or motor, but if it's the gearing in the axle, there might be no way around it. I ordered integy lathe 75t motors. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNCrqhx0Ov4 |

Installed 55t integy lathe motors, all the others were out of stock, now it's better, especially when you give it more throttle. Now the tires seem too stiff, maybe softer foams? I have a zig zag pattern of cuts on the center of all the treds to let air out, thats how I got them. |

i watched ur vid and i think u need to go with 75turn motors or even 80turn silver cans and put about a 10 tooth pinion but it maynot work but cant be no worse

it's livable now, if I go any slower, it won't keep up with me on a trail. i'm gonna try messing with wieghts first before I mess with the foams. Trying to find a comp looking body too, maybe an over sized 10th scale.

I KIND OF SOLVE THE CLOD STALL ,I USE A AIRTRONIC RDS8000 CONTROLER THAT LETS ME TWICK THE FRONT AND REAR AS A MIX USING THE TWO STICK AT THE SAME TIME FOR POWER,ITS LIKE HAVING TWO JOY STICK ONE FOR THE F AND ONE FOR THE REAR CONTROLING EACH SIDE SEPARATE. |
