Re: 1/6 1960's CJ-6 Hey guys...your enthusiasm is much appreciated. I am planning to pic this up again soon...work and winter has really put a damper on my motivation. I was just looking at some things for this a couple days ago. Might be narrowing the tires a little, depending how they'll fit the clod rims. Was also thinking about a Meyers 1/2 cab instead of a full soft top. What do y'all think? |
Re: 1/6 1960's CJ-6 Meyers half cab would be cool. |
Re: 1/6 1960's CJ-6 awsome detail "thumbsup" |
Re: 1/6 1960's CJ-6 3 Attachment(s) Wow! I can't believe how long it's been for this one. Trying to get some activity going again. This past weekend, I replaced the D60's with a new set of D44's I got from RC Recycler for a reasonable price. They already had the link mounts ground off for leaf springs. Probably why they were cheap. So, I had to fab all new spring perch's, shock mounts and U-bolt plates for the smaller Yota U-bolts. I also added an extra leaf to each rear spring. The originals that I made were great for flex, but lacked the support that is needed to keep it up where it belongs. Looks much more scale now and the new axles should be beefy enough for this hefty Jeep chassis. I used the same rear wideners on the rear axle and widened the front using 1 of the rear tubes for the SCX width and a Wraith width front CVD shaft shortened by 28mm and reground to fit the diff. Here's result of my efforts |
Re: 1/6 1960's CJ-6 In your first post, you were looking for a set of stock Jeep wheels. G-made has stockers for their Sawback, might fit your bill, SR03 or VR01 |

The Gmade rims are nice but they're 1.9's and 6-lug. The VR01 are a perfect fit for my RC4WD Land Cruiser."thumbsup" |
Re: 1/6 1960's CJ-6 Progress so far. Doesn't look like much but it took me 2 days to get the grill to this point. http://scale4x4rc.org/forums/attachm...1&d=1499657352 |

Re: 1/6 1960's CJ-6 3 Attachment(s) Recently did some research into some scale headlights for this big Jeep, and this is what I came up with. Cheap Dollar Store mini LED flashlights, for the bezels and plastic replacement watch bezels to resemble 7" sealed beam headlights. The holes in chrome bezels will accommodate 5mm LED's. I scratched in the groove pattern and, from a distance, they don't look too bad. I have extras so I may do a better job later on, but I wanted to see how this would turn out. I made the chrome rings by putting plastic chrome Landy rims in my drill-press, shaving them down to just the center bulge and then slowly drilling and grinding away the center section of the rims to fit over the watch bezels. What do ya think...? |
Re: 1/6 1960's CJ-6 Absolutely STUNNING! Looks factory spec to me... "thumbsup" |

Worked on this a little more today and got the blinkers done. I think they turned out pretty good. What do yall think? |
Re: 1/6 1960's CJ-6 Wow! Looks good, I thought they came clear though |

This is what I used...I cut off the tip just big enough to fit the chrome bezel I made. |
Re: 1/6 1960's CJ-6 That's cool and ingenuitive "thumbsup" |
Re: 1/6 1960's CJ-6 You could hang that grille on the wall as art, just as it is! :badger: |
Re: 1/6 1960's CJ-6 Thanks guys. Kinda brainstorming how to fab up the hood and fenders. |
