That is a damned good question there. I did not even consider the added reduction of a transfer case and what affect it's gonna have.

I'm transplanting the Holmes Cobalt Puller and Axial trans from my SCX10, and I was pretty satisfied with the combination of available wheelspeed and crawl-ability I got with this setup. Maybe the .75:1 Disruptor might be a better choice for me.

Luckily RC4WD contacted me to say the silver cased Disruptor has been disco'ed (despite still being listed as in stock, I guess someone needs to do some updating) so I have a chance to change up...

This is what I run, not much for wheel speed, like being in 4 low in a 1:1 all the time. Killer torque though.

HH 7T Puller
RC4WD Disruptor Planetary 16:1
RC4WD T1 Disruptor Transfer case 2.18:1
Stock Twin force axles MA050(13/43) gear set 3.31:1

My drivetrain is:

35T Tekin motor, 16/87 on the AX-10 tranny, 2.18:1 Disruptor, underdrive gear set in the AXR-10 axles.

Top Speed =

It actually a tiny bit faster than that, but not much! The plus side is: tons of torque and throttle control to guide this 15 LB. pig anywhere I want it to go.

The .75:1 Disruptor (over drive gear ratio) would give you lots of wheel speed but depending on how heavy your Jeep ends up being, it could really hurt low speed control, get the motor really hot and draw a ton of current from the battery.

Wow, that is one pissed off turtle! Underdrive gears in the axles? Man, that is low....
That is a good idea, I might put off this decision until I get the axles and the body work done, just to get a good idea of what this thing will weigh before i go hopping it up.
I don't need crazy wheel speed, just a good walking speed with a good throttle "pop" to get me out of tricky spots. My goal is still to make this a G6 rig, which is a lot of crazy terrain, running a mile or so at a stretch.

Sorry for the late reply, had a G6 last weekend and work kinda exploded this week. (I gotta pay for this stuff!)

Damn, nice score.

I'd make a mini pop-up camper out of that, it's already the perfect shape for it the way the top flares out...

That would be cool, I almost hate to screw with it cause I'm sure it's a collectable, but I'll get over it!

Man, seems like progress on this thing is slow. Parts are trickling in, I keep getting distracted by work and life in general. Blah. Cant these people see I have a jeep to build? Sheesh.

Actually it's a good thing, I need to think a lot of this stuff out before I go tearing this thing up.

Anyhoo, the axles are about 90% complete, got the front done with the xr10 universals... man these things are smooth, even fully locked out. I know I'm not going to get this much steer once this thing is built.

Still need to get a couple xr10 straight axles for the rear end. Tubes are drilled and tapped, although it looks like it was done by a drunken sailor. What the hell was I thinking?

Also had an idea to mount a speed control fan in the radiator shroud to help with airflow. These seem kinda small, but i think a little black spray paint should help hide this thing.

you could run two colling fans side by side . it would look cool and work good.

still on the fence about the final color, I was thinking about a camo pattern like I've done before. What do you guys think?

Wow, this has been a slow build, just trying to get everything together, but it should be worth the wait.....

I'm still not set up to do any real brazing or welding, and since I really want this done (and done right) by the end of the decade, I farmed the cage work out to a friend of mine, Dorkvader, for his artistic touches.

This really just an idea for cage height, etc.

I run the 2.18/1 Disruptor with the stock axial SCX10 trans gears, and a 35 turn motor with (I am pretty sure is a) 16 tooth pinion gear. 7.4 volt lipo. I has a top speed that is slower than a normal walking pace, but gives great low speed crawling control.
