1:5 Yota I got a set of rc4wd 1/5 scale yota axles a while back and haven't really done anything to them. I'm going to start this build and just thought I'd post it here. Pardonmynoob will be building the body for this thing and knowing him, I'm sure it will be a Awesome look! I'm planning on the attached CAD of one side for this monster chassis. It's going to be 32" long!! http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/5faffcca.jpg Going to be using solid Aluminum for this chassis and not the C bar. Here are pics of the axles. These things are huge!! These are posing next to my 1:10 bruiser! http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/fe3cdfb4.jpg and next to my bully http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/be4e58e6.jpg These are having 8mm drive shafts so I'm still contemplating on what tranny to use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Not planning on going fast with this one but will go trailing with it. "thumbsup" |
I'd go with an Emaxx or Summit trans. It's gonna have to be big, whatever you use. |
This is gonna be awesome!! |
What are you gonna use for driveshafts that long? If you can splice enough revo shafts, they'd bolt up to a summit trans and can be drilled out to 8mm for the axle end. I think a two speed summit would be sweet in something this big. |
Was thinking the same way regarding the drive shafts or, RC4wd does have an 8mm punisher shaft and I can just fit another head for the tranny side. Not sure yet. This is gonna be a very long B****.:ror: |
omg:shock:, cant wait to see this thing and that body! |
finally a large scale build that isnt a willy's :lmao: i have been waiting to see someone build a truck with these axles. |
Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I'll follow your route and do it with a summit tranny. Haven't really worked with traxxas tranny's before, will it need another servo for the second gear? |
My god! I never knew these axles were out there! I must get some! Good luck with the build. |
How to hell can you afford those diffs |
I'll be watching this one! |
When the time comes I think I'm going to need a bigger workbench for this body:lmao: And yes, you will need a servo for the transmission to change gears. |

Rich you better effin post pictures along the way  |
Well, I've sent out the CAD for the chassis to be cnc'd out of 10mm aluminum plate:twisted: hope it comes out strong enough for this rig. It'll take about 5 days. Ill update more on the chassis by then."thumbsup" |
this should be cool, never seen those axles used before"thumbsup" |
awsome axles! |
yota very interesting cant wait too see more"thumbsup" |
Subscribed! I can't wait to see what n00b pulls together for you! But I'm betting it's going to be perfect! 8)8)8) |
:lmao: uh oh Noob!! pressure is on man!! "thumbsup" 2 days till Chassis is done!! |
Haha, you have an audience for this one. I can't wait to see this thing finished! |
do you ever drive your bully or bruiser? |
Yota is used a lot, swimmer rig:mrgreen: http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...s/bc1d2fc8.jpg The bully has changed chassis twice, but has never seen outdoor rocks, only what we made in our porch. Its a two hour drive to a decent rock formation and been kinda busy with work. "thumbsup" |
I am serching high and low for a large enuff body here in denmark to fit simmilar axels, witch i will order about 5 miliseconds after i have secured a useable body. I have found some interesting bodies, but the prize the sellers ask is insane. I proberly have to take a insane pill 1 day and "just do it" as the Nike comercials said back in the 90ties  |
Tell me about it. This was what I was going to use,but decided against it. http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/1d57f181.jpg http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/cf84fee2.jpg |
updates? |
Hey man, been travelling the last couple of days. Ill be back this weekend and update once i get back to building.. |
Opened up the axles last weekend. They weren't locked so I decided to try and see if I could just jam it up with metal application epoxy. Here are some pics. http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/b71f71c6.jpg http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/2af220f2.jpg http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/db86828d.jpg Screwed two smaller screws into the smaller gears to stop them from turning then added the epoxy. http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/47f9bbae.jpg http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/09cb7ca6.jpg Also got the servo for this rig. I laughed when I saw it's size. I keep on forgetting how big this is going to be. http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/5f1bd009.jpg sitting next to a normal servo. http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/c403a61b.jpg Going to pick up the chassis when I get back this weekend. Hope they made it right. |
I forgot, this is going under the hood. I just hope it doesn't fall apart while trailing. :lmao: I put it together last week as well. http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/63a8d59d.jpg http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/880cc730.jpg http://i798.photobucket.com/albums/y...3/5284bb79.jpg |

Whoa!! Sure makes bruiser look so small!!!! I'll be watching this one ! |
this will be interesting when this ones done |
Looks good bud but the big block looks a little to small compared to the axles maybe you could make a motor an stick you electric motor in that or go for an rc4wd fracture v8 in it |
