Default 1:5 Yota

I got a set of rc4wd 1/5 scale yota axles a while back and haven't really done anything to them. I'm going to start this build and just thought I'd post it here. Pardonmynoob will be building the body for this thing and knowing him, I'm sure it will be a Awesome look! I'm planning on the attached CAD of one side for this monster chassis. It's going to be 32" long!!

Going to be using solid Aluminum for this chassis and not the C bar. Here are pics of the axles. These things are huge!! These are posing next to my 1:10 bruiser!

and next to my bully

These are having 8mm drive shafts so I'm still contemplating on what tranny to use. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Not planning on going fast with this one but will go trailing with it.

I'd go with an Emaxx or Summit trans. It's gonna have to be big, whatever you use.

What are you gonna use for driveshafts that long? If you can splice enough revo shafts, they'd bolt up to a summit trans and can be drilled out to 8mm for the axle end. I think a two speed summit would be sweet in something this big.

Was thinking the same way regarding the drive shafts or, RC4wd does have an 8mm punisher shaft and I can just fit another head for the tranny side. Not sure yet. This is gonna be a very long B****.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I think I'll follow your route and do it with a summit tranny. Haven't really worked with traxxas tranny's before, will it need another servo for the second gear?

When the time comes I think I'm going to need a bigger workbench for this body

And yes, you will need a servo for the transmission to change gears.

Well, I've sent out the CAD for the chassis to be cnc'd out of 10mm aluminum plate hope it comes out strong enough for this rig. It'll take about 5 days. Ill update more on the chassis by then.
