1:6 Dodge Ram IFS Build that's been in progress for a while. Some pics to catch up: Chassis design...modular so I can change sections without having to cut up another huge plate for a long chassis. Works great on larger builds. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...42010004sm.jpg http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...42010005sm.jpg Stared with an HPI MT suspension, upgraded to MT2 specs and added some aluminum for strength...the much bigger CVD's help too. De-ano'd and left natural. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...92010004sm.jpg Front suspension added. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...72011008sm.jpg CMS is back a bit and tucked well up on the chassis. Will probably need a much stonger servo, this one only has about 125oz of torque. Good enough to get started though. Bellcranks are aluminum for more beef. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...o/01152010.jpg 3 speed mount, goes to a divorced WK transfer case with steel gears. Not sure how that tamiya tranny is going to hold up with a 650 bolted to it. The semi guys haul so pretty impressive stuff with it, so we'll see. Chasss was designed so that an E-maxx or summit tranny can fit as well - that's plan B. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...82011001sm.jpg Radio tray..can move around if I ever decide to add an interior here: http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...102011-001.jpg Final layout (finished this last night...ugly iphone pics) - battery moved to the back to balance the chassis - it was SUPER front heavy, though now it's much better. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...G_0631-web.jpg http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...G_0633-web.jpg Stance...and LED's reconnected http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...G_0634-web.jpg Can sit with 1 wheel on an 8" block and the other three tuck nicely. http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...G_0636-web.jpg http://i472.photobucket.com/albums/r...12011019sm.jpg And that was where I am currently. Specs: WK axle MT2 front clip Upgraded HD gears F/R Kershaw 650 on 9.6v NIMH Novak Super Rooster HiTec 645MG Open diffs (for the moment, lockers standing by) - truck is heavy enough and tires are super grippy, curious how it does without them first. I'm sure I'l add them later, rear axle at the minimum. Work in progress - it's driveable, but still have a bunch more to do. Took it for a test drive around the basement last night and pretty sure I guessed a bit high on the gearing - third gear is going to be useless I think. Have room to gear it down though I wish I didn't have to tear out the tranny to do it. I'm defintely going to need to swap in some heavier foams too - this truck weighs a ton already and the TSL's super soft foam isn't cutting it. Ready for a test run! Should have some action pics shortly. |
That is awesome! Great work! I want to build a raptor with a similar setup for the suspension. |
very cool, the tires fit the size of the truck perfict. i really like the front suspension |
wow . . . . . .. that is absolutely amazing. well done bro. and i second the motion on building a raptor like that . . . . that would be sick! |
Damn nice, dude! "thumbsup" |
Looks kick ass. Did you use wideners for the rear axle? I have been wanting to do the same build and have all the parts sitting here. Only difference I want to use the 1:6 H2 body and Super nitro Arms for the front. I may use the MT2's now though seeing that they fit well under that body. I have one of these too, but made it a Monster Truck and used a Stretched Emaxx underneath. http://i960.photobucket.com/albums/a...X/DSC00087.jpg http://i960.photobucket.com/albums/a...X/DSC00090.jpg Sorry for the thread jack |

Scaler, you are correct - 15mm per side on the WK axle, and nothing at all on the MT2 - it's much wider than the axle. The original MT set-up is a bit narrower and fit to a T, but I wanted the heavier CVD's that come in the MT2 package . On my 1/6 ford, the body is much narrower and looking at a SN suspension for the front of that - should be perfect. I have a Super Rally here to raid for parts. Won't be for a while though, have some 1/10 rigs to finish up. |
Is that a New Bright body? Excellent scale build, it looks like it will perform as well as it looks."thumbsup" |
It is a New Bright....The proportions are a little off, it's wider than it should be but overall a nice body. Solid and sturdy! |
Hi mate, how much for a kit and made for axial trans and I'm thinking of making it 2WD and I have Scx10 axles and MRC axles and a slash if we can incorporate them into somewhere would the 1/15th version fit the MRC diffs better Cheers Andrew |
