Here's the upper link mount I came up with.

I designed it to butt up against the differential on the long side and be dead center on the axle. The link/shock mounts can go wherever you want.

I got them bagged up and ready to ship. PM me your address

made a remote control lee ermey (extra salty style) this weekend... works great and i dont need to have the function take up one of the four channels that i already have plans for... used a coke can rc and stuffed all the electronics in his torso, then i made the controller smaller so it would look/fit better when i velcro it to my controller... has a pretty decent range of 10 ft which is fine by me ...

i also cut/welded a frame from 1/2" square tube... gotta cut it down the center and grind some welds down still... ill post pics of it once i get it closer to done

From what I'm seein', he's gonna be able to bark out some classic R. Lee lines, remotely activated from his transmitter while he's driving.

Nice job fitting all that inside of ol' Gunny! That's gonna be a cool little feature...

It looks like you've stuffed the micro RC drive train inside of R.Lee, I'm guessing he might give a hand gesture??

lee ermey was working great for awhile... then his voice sounded like crap and now he wont even talk... i think i killed the speaker inside (it was rusty and i moved it around alot). so now i have to take him apart to find out whats going on ...

i did make some good progress on my dash this weekend ... functional glovebox door that hides buttons to a mp3 player... the small metal "toggle" switch controls the on/off switch for the mp3 player... i didnt picture it, but i made a switch cover for the toggle switch out of diamond plate which will make it look better than it does now. i also drilled holes to mount leds to shine light on the gauges. then i drilled and taped some holes in my framerails to mount them to the chassis... added some spacers to the body to bring the frame rails down slightly so there is a tiny gap between the body and frame... still lots of work to go...

Build looks like it is coming along great. Any pics of the MSD Quicksand winch on the front? Looks kind of big, like it will be a good fit for a 1/6 scale rig.

i think it fits the build well ... its too big to be 1:10 scale but too small to be 1:6... im sure its actual scale is somewhere in the middle of the two.... and heres that pic just cause you asked

Very nice, thanks for posting. Yep, big for 1/10 small on 1/6. But it really does look good. Here is some thing I found to compare to a 1:1.

so i been mocking up the axles and im undecided on whether the diff should be offset on the driver or passenger side... most the pics on google have the pumpkin in the front offset to the driverside but a few have them offset on the passenger side... any advantages to going one side or the other? should i just do it offset to the drivers side so it looks like 90% of the jeeps i looked at?... looks like i get a lil better clearance for the drive shaft when its on the passenger side but im pretty sure i can make it work out on either side

comments and suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I've got Wraith axles for my build, and they are going on the passenger side like this real one. Better clearance for the servo arm and linkage

On the MB Military, CJ2a and early CJ3a, they had a Dana 41 rear axle that was offset to the passenger side.

i saw a few pics of some dana 60s front mounted on jeeps with the offset to the passenger side... im shooting for a comp style look... sounds like i should go with it on the passenger side so the steering setup will be easier to figure out... and since some of the jeeps had offset rears on the back, my rear axle wouldnt look outta place

That's exactly why I narrowed some Wraith axles for my blue Jeep, the offset pumpkin looks 'correct' for a CJ3A.

working on the skid plate... looking for input on the design.
should i angle the front and rear bends more?
should i do a similar bend on the sides of it?

how much triangulation should i go for on the 4 link mounts? (mount them close towards the center or outward more towards the frame... performance advantage either way?)
