stock jeep tires? anyone use the stock tires that come with the hasbro jeeps? headquake has a video and he used them on his build ,i am looking for the size on the rim itself i am away from home and can't measure it myself.my plan is to make a mold of the tire and cast them out of eurathane rubber .they will be solid rubber tires .hopefully they will work,i have about 8 jeeps at home and want them to look as real as possible.thanks for any help given . |
Re: stock jeep tires? i wanted the same, i ended up narrowing some proline hammers, they came out really good and looked fairly close. i was really impressed with performance. came out the same diameter as the stock plastic tires. clicky http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/large...-6-m-38-a.html |
Re: stock jeep tires? that was a sweet build are you making those chassis? also was that leaf sprung? |
Re: stock jeep tires? I pulled out the stock wheels from my Jeep, I was surprised how soft the tires are. Soft enough to be turned inside-out. If you could thin the carcass from the inside somehow, and cut off the rib on the outer circumference of the wheel that fills the tire, they might be half-decent (provided of course you could adapt the hexes from another wheelset) Here's how a 2002 Hasbro wheel measures out: Overall: 3 7/8" (across outside of rib) Rim size: 3 7/16" (if you cut the rib off) Bead: 2 15/16" to outside, 1/16" wide http://i1106.photobucket.com/albums/...-00500-1-1.jpg These tires do have a bead of sorts, and a nice slot for the bead on the front side of the wheel. Not so much slot on the backside, the slot is in the ribs. Seems to me you could adapt the stock wheels pretty easily if you've got a little skill and imagination... |
Re: stock jeep tires? i have a mini lathe mill combo and when i get home from fire season i am going to sit down figure something out ,thanks for taking the time to measure the wheel i really like the look of the stock wheel and tire combo with leaf springs .i know it won't crawl as good ,but trying to keep it as real as possible . |
Re: stock jeep tires? Don't the guys at rc4wd have something close to the wheels and tires? |
Re: stock jeep tires? Here you go. These tires and wheels are pretty close. https://store.rc4wd.com/Out-Croppers...res_p_727.html https://store.rc4wd.com/22-Militants...ir_p_1728.html Hope this helps. |

Re: stock jeep tires? Yeah that's all I could find in 2.2 that you could get away with. Have the right tires in 1.9 |
Re: stock jeep tires? i wish i was home to work on my rig,the plan is to make a mold of the original tire and modify an original rim so i can also mold it .hopefully if all goes well i'll have a rig with a hex and rubbery solid tires .wish me luck. |
Re: stock jeep tires? in my link i used RC4wd 2.2 Landy wheels. yes i made the chassis. it was 4 linked. |
Re: stock jeep tires? FYI...Clod rims are the right dia. I am actually in the process of converting the clods to narrow rims and hex adapters. I'll be posting a how to soon. I used the sidewalls of the clod tires, and 2.2 Mil Spec tire treads. |
Re: stock jeep tires? i found the tires.they will have to be cut and shut. http://www.beadlok.com/product/images/DUKW1.9_6550.jpg |
Re: stock jeep tires? |
Re: stock jeep tires? I would think that the first set would have the most realistic look, but since they appear to be a 1.9 tire, I would think that you would need to separate the tread from the sidewall, add another section to it, then find an appropriate carcass to glue the tread to. |
