| Minor updates for shelly
This started a while ago but is close to wrapping up. I wanted more wheel speed than the clod axle turned tranny was giving me and what better to slap in than a maxx 2 speed right? To get the maxx tranny in I was going to have to cut away at the old bed so out came the sawzall and work on a new bed began. The old one was the way I wanted it but it did not look 'truck' enough and did not give much room for electronics. The bed sides are constructed out of black plastic from an attic vent (I love home depot!) and it the home of the speed control, servo voltage regulator and most of the wiring for lights. I also rotated the steering servo 90* since most of the energy put out by the servo was just twisting the chassy and not turning wheels. All that is left is to get a black tube for the antenna wire (only place it gets clean reception) and try to make it look like a CB, remaking the tow strap that holds down the spair tire, and finishing the lights. Trying out the new tranny |

Jim loves Shelly. Nice job on the bed. I especially like the creative light setup. Very realistic throughout! |

This is as close to done as she will ever be because I think I can see the winds of change out on the horizon..... The steel tube frame was scrapped in favor of tube so Shelly is no longer a truggy, she is a full blown buggy The exo was also cut down to just protect the cab and some uber small changes were made to the 'bed.' Other than that the lights are finally all operational (although I am not impressed with the RAM lights) and the winch has been reinstalled. In this last one you can also see one of the 2 rock lights mounted up front near the headlight. |
