Default Aussie 1/6 Willy's new pics

I've been looking at all the willy's builds on here, and have been putting mine together for a while now and thought it was time to share. The plan is a modded weakend wheeler with around 33's.
I started with a 21st century willy's.
Got the body mounted and made some seats out of alloy

I made a chassis out of steel and sliced it down the middle, wanted WK diffs as thats what seems to be popular, but had a lot of trouble finding a set over here, I ended up buying an unbuilt AX10 kit from the classifieds on RCC. I was not happy with the axles at this point as I had to use 13mm wideners on them just to get them to fit. So I was on the lookout for a solution.

Fitting the rear diff

I got some sticky ripsaws from RCC removed green anodizing from bead locks before fitting and modified the axial gear box to use as transfer case got the skid plate welded in place to mount the transfer case & fitted 3 junfac steel shafts

Made some D shackle points for front bar also made rear bar with tow point

More to come soon.

Got engine and gear box mount welded in under bonnet and cms as well just need a decent servo for steering.

Almost there just need a esc and steering servo to get it running also make full cage from brake line then test run before stripping down and finish welding the chassis then full paint on body & chassis. I'm thinking Green for the colour with black bar work.
I got some Gmade R1 diffs in a trade and sized them up under the willy's. It looked good so it was time for a strip down and diff swap more soon.

So as it sits atm it has
2.2 r35 ripsaws
Axial black rims with raw alloy rings
Gmade R1 diffs
Unknown coilovers
45t motor with a 20 tooth pinion
Axial gearbox with steal outdrive
2nd Axialbox converted to transfer case with steel internals and alloy case
3x Junfac shafts
custom chassis by me
brake line cage
alloy seats by me
Axial AE-3
HH BRXL
Jonesn light kit
Heres some more pics of how it sits now.
Front view

Rear view

Close up of rear

Flex shot

Started on the cage

This is as it sit's now

I wanted to be able to use the roof that came with it as I haven't seen anyone do this, so made the cage to suit. I've been doing some testing and I love the way this thing drives, very realistic and very capable.
Anyone that's thinking about building one should do it.
Still have to sort out an esc for this as the BRXL is from my JK, also need a winch and I think a servo winch will be needed as it's a pig.

Not really that quick, The body was brought about 18 months ago, and I've been putting it together as I got bits, the rest of the time I've been slowly gathering parts and studying builds on here, I wanted something a bit different so the portals and roof worked well. BTW your build was one spent a lot of time on, If I had known how much fun these where I would have tryed to get it going a lot sooner.

I didn't realize it was that long, I was being lazy and just looked at the pics! Regardless, it's a cool looking Jeep. Just like you said, these Jeeps are so much fun to drive because they handle like a 1:1 Jeep.

I made a four link plate for the rear diff to get the link's closer together for better triangulation, It seems to be better.

Also got the cage finnished and painted as well as a bit of colour on the body.

Under bonnet shot.

Not much left to do now, I,ve got some stickers on the way from Bowtie to break up the green a bit, I got the light's working but may get a led light bar for up top, and thinking a servo winch might be needed. I think it needs some better foams to (what does everyone else run) as it weighs 12 pounds and they fold on turns. But other than those few thing's I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Another change of diff's is happening on this as I needed the axial diff's in my JK to build my son a RV rig, so the R1 diffs will go to the JK and I'm building a set of wheely king diff's to go under the willy's, does anyone know where I can pic up some STRC lockouts and straight axles to suit WK diff's.

Send ZoSo ( from RCP Crawlers) a PM, he was stocking the WK lock outs for the Willys Jeep builds.

Been busy on this again, has anyone used the RC4WD WK straight axles and lockouts, I've just ordered a set and hope there OK as soon as they get here I can finish bulding the diffs and get this thing running again.

Finally got a set of wheelie king diffs fitted and added some more stickers to break up the green, I also found an old large scale ferrari rc and cut out the seats to fit in, also toying with fitting the console, what do you think? I'll probably paint the seats black and grey so the console would be painted to match, it just needs a motor/esc now and will be finnished, i have a trailer on the way from a great RCC member and will be doing a build up of that when it arrives as well as a LED light bar so it's not really finished at all,I must say building this is allmost as much fun as running it so I guess it will allways get some changes.

Picked this up from one of the forum members. Don't know about the spare yet, and I still need to make an off road hitch, I would have liked it to sit a bit lower, but that would of meant cutting the gaurds off, and I don't know if I want to do that. Let me know what you think.

I would trim the wheel guards just a little bit. Make it look off road worthy, but keep some of the original intact.
