Real Steel 1/6th F250 Project working class reborn

Next was the rear shocks, I was just never happy with the configuration and I have tried tons.. This is finally what I landed with..scale and functionable.

Proline powerstrokes, 90mm with 60wt oil. with the mass of this beast this set up will keep the rear wheels planted now once it gets a trailer that's a different story.

I used modified Tamiya bruiser shock mounts on the frame and rc4wd t-rex 60 axle link mounts below..

Now we are caught up to yesterday. While waiting for some parts I decided to jump ahead to some paint and body work...and believe me there was a lot of it.

I decided to go with a clean gloss white for the body, Black bumpers, tinted blacked out windows, charcoal and black interior and a black rhino lined bed..it was a long night.

Also wired up my front leds and added a couple 2" fans in the grill I had a lot of problems with the pullers overheating and burning up on me so after scavenging so parts from an old power inverter heres what we end up with.



fans are wired to an auxillary power switch mounted under the hood so I can kick them on if needed and off to save battery life.

now onto some body shots

lol you could own stock in rc4wd and still never have enough parts...

when I started this rig I just stared at the body for days letting the ideas flow and made notes of things I wanted it to have....and after enough parts getting delivered to start a small hobby shop...here we are 3 years and a crap ton more parts ordered it still aint done...

when you are ready to dig into it just remember to to keep going...I know I fell off for awhile but came back..ive seen a lot of kick ass builds started but not nearly as many finished.

Update time guys, its coming along and nearly finished..i hope

Now I know in the past we have went back and forth on it needing bigger tires..problem was finding the perfect size tire to scale.
Now I spent way more than I wanted to on a few sets of tires and everytime I thought I was going to end up with a winner all I got was disappointment.

After all the mods air and cutting nearly every style foam on the market I finaly found the perfect combo.. well at least I think they are tuck perfectly into the wheel wells and just barely rub when the suspension articulates

J concepts 2.8 rulux wheels for stampede and Proline 2.8 TSL Swampers un-molested .....for now lol

Now were on to some scale accessories as in it needed some lights bad...

Added the cab clearance lights and routed the wires clean inside the headliner.

Also added the tail lights and made up some inner fender wells for the bed, used the bottoms of some washer fluid jugs..way better than the previous cardboard ones.

Now for the kicker..and bear with me for some reason a few pics did not save so ill have to come back to them..

The body and bed are designed to come off as two separate pieces, IE the cab will be bolted down andonly needs to come off for motor service.

the bed is designed to set in place for quick access to the battery and electronics..

So for easy clean connections of the leds I soldered on some old servo plugs and the attatched to female plugs to the frame right behind the cab. 1 plug is for the cab lights and the other is plugged into an extension cable that runs to the rear frame. Now there I split the cable into two ends one for the bed tail lights and the other is a jst plug that will be mounted to the trailer hitch to supply light power to the trailer.







the light controllers will be located inside the electronics box once I figure out the right combo, but for now they are just all on or all off.

And now I need some help, while doing a test run this afternoon I finished grenading the rc4wd 3 speed transfer case. I stripped the disconnect section last summer so I just flipped it around to make it full time 4wd now I lost the rwd ouput...the video ill be posting is of it in front wheel drive only and still moving strong with a 23lb kid sitting on the back lol

ive given up on the selectable transfer case idea theres just nothing strong enough to handle this rig and still be scale so im just going to put in a full time 4wd t-case im thinking the rc4wd 1:1 triton t case or the older 1:1 killer t-case, they both claim to have wide hardened steel gears but before I waste another dime on trial and error I would like to get some feedback from anyone who has put one of these through the ringers.

as it sits right now ive got a $300 pile of junk rc4wd transmission and transfer case parts ..what a waste

If I'm not mistaken, one of those shows on Sunday mornings, I think it's called "Trucks" on Spike TV( channel 43 by me), they put a Cummins from a Dodge, in a fullsize Ford 1-ton.

Its a pretty common thing to do a Cummins swap..called a fummins for short..

Probably 80% of the diesel pullers are running a Cummins no matter what name is on the grill

I'm guessing this never got finished? I have a 6th scale Ford body that I need someone to build up a frame for it

Its built and running but no i havnt completely finished it yet, all thats left would be the finishing touches and scale add ons. It still sits almost exactly as pictured, with a few mods here and there and alot of extra dust. Never forgot or gave up just had to put some life responsibilities ahead
