More progress today. After a couple hours of trying to figure out the geometry for the leafsprings in the rear I came to a realization. There is no way in hell that I can do it with the OCP and I will eventually have to get the rc4wd wraith center diff rear axle. That being said here is a crude 4 link in the rear that needs adjustment, ( notice the angle of the pinion output )

Also got around to using my 3rd grade styrene skills to make an electronics box up front to help offset the weight when loading and unloading the rollback. First shot shows the framework and box second shows the layout ( the dirty ass motor and ancient rooster is for mock up only )

Made another trip to TSC and picked up a nice thick piece of sheet metal to make a more realistic looking headache rack for cab protection. I plan on hanging chains and hooks from it and possibly cutting a window out of it

Now for the first time a front shot with the body sitting on it. I think the ar60's really pulled it off along with the offfset of the rockstar wheels. No body rub turning from lock to lock and it looks nice and full figured.

With the success of the front end, after snapping this picture I realised the need for either a DOT style rear bumper or I can go the extra mile and attempt to build a stinger for the rear so I can tow without using the bed or tow two rigs at once.

Thats all she wrote for today. I think tomorrow im going to take a break other than fixing the rear axle angle and take the K5 or Rubicon out for a little walk in the woods. Now to look for a scale hydraulic control box to mount to the frame in the rear like a realistic set of bed controls on a Jerr-Dan rollback.

I've done a little repo work in the past and ran a rollback so it was kinda hard to pass up running one again lol

I was worried the HH 35t was not going to be enough, turns out its too much and the truck flies. I think im going to have to invest in a Puller motor or something lower geared

Like the rear drive shaft idea, simple but effective and robust.

Robust is an understatement lol. I put the shaft in my bench vise and took a torque wrench to it and I stopped at 20 ft lbs seeing how that would WAY exceed any trail use. They're big, bulky, ugly, but strong as a mule and simple as hell to do

Well my worries about the motor were well founded. the 35t was insane fast on flat ground, so I swapped out to a Novak fifty five series and it helped with the wheelspeed but took it down for its maiden run and it doesnt even have the power to pull itself up a hill..... Looks like that puller motor is more of a reality than a want like it was at first

dude! stoked on this build! i think this is the first time i've LIKED a rig on AR60's! oh wait i liked that 1/6 raptor build too. but this is very scale. very cool!
i'd run these:

not sure if they're even the right size, but they'd be sweet.

keep it up!

haha who woulda thunk it that it'd take a 1/6 scale rig to make a set of AR's look sweet. I think those are 1.7 commercial tires for the Tamiya semi's I've got a few sets of them laying around, but if those are 2.2's those would look hella sweet for some on road recoveries.
