Yea, it not quite as skinny.

So I think I have a plan as far as a look for it. I'm thinkin late 70s - 80s class 3 desert racer.

I picked up some styrene supplies today. I've never worked with it before, but I'm gonna learn.

Gonna try to pick up some 1/4" tube tomorrow.

Styrene is easy to work with, especially if you've built scale models from Revell, AMT, or Monogram in the past. However, if you're going to attach directly to the softer plastic on the Marx Jeep, test in an inconspicuous place, you may need to use a different glue (one that is compatible with both types of plastic), or fasten with screws. The plastic on the Hasbro Jeep is closer to styrene. I used Testors Model cement for the trans hump and shock tower boxes and was able to glue directly to the body.

Yea, I built a lot of models when I was a kid. I have some pieces that I cut off the body I will do some test gluing on. The first glue I'm going to try is a model glue. I chose it because I wanted something a little thicker that wouldnt run all over the place. And it says it works on styrene and ABS.

I made this little rotary draw bender out of scrap and some rest buttons a few years ago. I have a profile for this tool and .250 material in my tube bending software. A quick scetch and a few measurements and its off to bending parts.

I probably said it before, but, I'm looking forward to the finished product. Your original Hasbro Jeep build is what motivated me to build one of my own

Thanks a lot. I hope not to disappoint

I think a lot of us here get inspiration from other builds, build stuff, and inspire the next builder

Got my eBay Marx Jeep and trailer today. The Jeep is rough, but the cherry trailer is what i wanted.

Maybe Barbie can have this one.

Made a little progress. With the Barbie Jeep I didnt really put any thought into weight savings, but Im doing what I can on this one. My bender doesnt do tube. So if it has a bend its round bar, and all the straight stuff is brake line. I have not brazed in probably 10 years but this seemed like a good application for it.

Its starting to take shape

The radius on the line bender I have is too big. I was thinking about using the TIG on this, but i didnt want any contamination issues if i didnt get all of the galvanizing off the tube.

Since building with the 4130 I won't use brake line. I never liked dealing with the coating and now all the stores have is that dark coated stuff. If they have any thing at all.

I've found some small radius tubing benders. Rigid makes some.

Beat on this thing and took it off some sweet jumps for about 40 minutes the other night, playing follow the leader with my 6 year old and her Losi mini. And I didn't wreck it lol.

Went camping this weekend and took every RC vehicle that ran. This Jeep,my Yeti, my girls Ridgecrest, her Losi mini, and Losi micro The rocks where we ended up were pretty big so I didn't wheel the Jeep too much. But we had a blast crashing everything else.

Cage ain't don't yet. I ran out a gas and tube.

Well then, we should hook up and wheel sometime. I've got a decent 40 on 35's in dire need of use. Nice Pig you have there, always wanted one.
