I learned something new today; if you didn't know how to reverse the polarity in a servo, here is a great tutorial I stumbled into.

I originally thought that I could just swap the power and the signal wire but on closer examination the two wires would be in the wrong position on the pot. I'm not sure if that approach would let all the smoke escape or not, so I'll follow the tutorial.

Thanks for the props, I feel like an amateur compared to some the the masters on this forum!

Quick update: after failing two steering servos I stepped up to a Hitec HS-7955TG, it should arrive in a couple of days. Then I'll snap a few pics, shoot some video and then cry when the honeymoon is over as it is tumbling down the rocks...

Thanks for asking! I started this project after my son (USMC) made it back from Afghanistan and my brother US Army) was in Iraq.

If you like your action adventure end of the world as we know it with a Military twist, this would be right up your alley.

A little shake down cruise today. I needed to get a few snaps before it ends up in a heap at the bottom of a rock pile!

I took some video with my new GoPro, but apparently there is a learning curve that I need to climb. I didn't get any good footage till I was recording my JK

Here is the link to the test video of the JK if you are interested. Be sure to select 1080P and go to full screen, Love the quality!

I made a couple of cool little latches to hold the hood in place. I have some very strong magnets holding it down but the hood popped open on it's first rollover.

Added a CB radio and whip antenna

I have to give a shout out to Holmes. Two 55 turn motors wired in parallel and a torquemaster ESC and all 18 pounds wants to climb straight up a wall!

I needed to add some recovery shackles to the bumpers so I roughed out some aluminum triangles, drilled them and bolted them together. After some shaping and fine tuning I drilled and tapped them.

... and a little light bar to help light up the night.

I finely mounted the pintle hitch and found a spot I wanted to mount the jack.

The Holmes TorqueMaster doesn't come with an on/off switch, so when I relocated the battery I added a switch to a new battery harness.

I also switch out the 6t pinion for a 12t and covered the motors with BWD Derlin motor sav'r. It scooted pretty fast across the garage, if it ever stops raining I'll have to see how the gear change effects the climbing torque.

Here is a little update on the Orange Willy's.

I stripped her down and pulled the MOA ClodBuster axles... ya I know... lots of you urged me i the beginning to move that direction. I'll probably at some point reunite them with the Clod frame and body and put the ol monster truck back together out of nostalgia. The Lipo packs I have now will blow away the D cell packs I built for it in '89.

With a set of Wraith take offs on the shelf it wasn't much of a stretch to just reconfigure my links to have a nice head start on the update.

All of the additional parts and pieces are on the shelf so it'll also be a low buck update as well. I think I will also put together an exocage for this one, the last two seemed to turn out well and offer an amazing buffer of protection.

and so it begins...

Looks great

tho' the suspension looks excessively tall ! ?

But there are so many other good things to see...
I'll just hafta' ignore that.

Love the driver action

have a "how to" on how you did that ?

How many TX channels does that require ?

Micro servos for the head and steering wheel ?
Same channel or separate channels ? mixer ? EPA ?

It'd be if my GI Joe were animated while driving.
Tho' I'm not so sure he's up to the hacking required ?

I'll get that suspension brought back down to earth and under control. With the Clod axles that's where it had to live. Also the biggest reason for swapping out to a shafty.

I run it on a two channel - the steering, steering wheel, driver and passenger are all slaved with a fancy pants harness.

Here is a little behind the scenes look at how I have done a few of them. scale_drivers

Jumping ahead a little bit to set up for the suspension height, I didn't like my set up for the drag link so I ordered an axle bracket for the attachment point. I'll also decide if I'll keep the dual shocks on the front. If I do I'll need to move them and then fab a bracket to mount those to the axle.

Damn. This truck has been around since 2013! And you've still got it, and doing a full rehash/remake. I love it when I see threads that are ancient then end up coming back to life with the same truck or same truck re-do. Hell yeh!

She is from Hollywood so one would guess the Scarlett Johansson would be leading the parade.

Side tracked since the start of the rework, A lot has happened in the past few months. We finished DuckTrucks Willy's, shot a video of it underway in the driveway, a couple of weeks later it was stolen in a home burglary even before we had a chance to crawl a single rock! .

I scored a nearly complete box of parts from TJ Steve and built another and I am now finally back on the 41 Orange, sorting the rear coils.

Thee good part of this rebuild is I already have the body finished. I'm getting down to just the electronics to get it back on the trail.

ESC, RX, steering servo to mount. If you remember, this one has a light and sound board, so I'll need to decide if it stays or if it goes.

Lastly, I have to tear down a Joe and install a servo. I wonder who the driver will be... I have six or seven head sculpts left to choose from.
