| Re: "a GI's Best Friend" Thanks! Still waiting for some link brackets to get here from Taiwan so I decided in the meantime to stuff a battery under the hood. Don't have any high tech stuff so I dug thru the parts box and found a Wraith battery tray along with some lexan scissors and a few leftover screws from the front frame thingy I cut off I made a crude battery holder 5000mah 3cell and Wraith tray: Some trimming: Finished product: Walah, fits like OJs glove: More soon! |

I got the brackets in the mail right after I posted that and just had to get started and then couldn't stop. These things go together so nice! Got a lot done but still along away to go. I was able to reuse the Wraith upper and lower links just by switching rodends here and there. Also added spacers to get a little pinion angle. Other than that, easy peasy. Bracket locations: Links and shocks: I pushed the front wheels out a bit but its hardly noticeable: Front and back shots: More to come..

Cheated a little on the steering but the servo fit so perfect in the pocket I left it, it works Got all the electronics in but I'm going to need to open the grill up I believe it's a little cramped to have no airflow to the ESC: It's now a runner I will get some outdoor shots once the weather clears. I still have lots of detailing to do yet, stay tuned!

This looks great man. And you are one of the first I've seen putting the supershafty beefy tranny in there. This thing is gonna have balls to spare. I moved the front axle out on mine quite a bit too. I think it centers under the grill now. And it doesn't look bad at all and helps on the up hills. With all these 1/6r's out we gotta have a get together this summer sometime. I know of least 5-6 guys in the VA MD arEa alone. |

| Re: "a GI's Best Friend" Tamiya stopped production on TLT parts so I'm told but I was directed to a fella in Taiwan on Ebay you can search: "TAMIYA 1/14 Tractor Trucks stainless steel suspension stay hold set" Got mine in 10 days not too shabby. Also if anyone is looking for one of these Jeeps one just popped up on shopgoodwill.com still no bids on it... Last edited by Chargerguy; 11-27-2013 at 02:00 PM. |

A cage is not totally necessary, lower cog without one actually, and a stinger will murder your approach angle. Mine has no front bumper and the approach is killer!

i have a stinger, but its pretty small and points prety far. up, also my front axle is forward so my approach angle is at least 90* if not more. so if you do it right it can look cool and not hurt.
