The batteries for it, I plan to run them in parallel on the trail.

Once this is welded up tomorrow, I should be able to mount all the electronics in there and give it a real drive, maybe even with the body on it!

Here is its first real run with the body on. Everything is hooked up except for a winch which still has to be built. In the video, I show the different speeds, in all 3 gears. I was running a single 3S 2200 lipo and ran for about 10 minutes prior to taking this video clip. I'll be doubling them up next time.

You guys think its fast enough? Crawls perfect in 1st, I would say it will trail great in 2nd and third it struggles a bit. Motor temp was 119 and esc was 101. Battery was right at 3.8V on all cells after 12 minutes or so. I may need to order another set of batteries for it.

An update. It now has a Tekin Gen 1 13.5 motor in it and its powered just right. Most of the time when I run it its in 2nd gear 4wd with open diffs kinda like you would when you are on a trail with ARB's then I lock em in when the going gets tough. It's done surprisingly well so far and it can carry stuff too!

Subscribed. I like this, you did an awesome job.

It motivates me a little to work more on my 1/4-scale build, but unfortunately all of the parts and resources for it are about 1000 miles away ...

If I ever get to it, it will be a fiberglass F100/150 body (the body is a little too generic to say exactly what it is, but it was also free!) with Lowe's/Home Depot "Hand Dolly" wheels and tires (a gift from a generous friend).

Drivetrain wont be what my original dream was but since it is my first scratch build, and again the parts were donated by my father, I will be using the complete motor/gearbox/diff/transaxle unit from a 'mobility scooter.' Two 12 volt batteries for 24 volts, or five 6-volt batteries for 30 volts will be wrangled through a SyRen 50 amp controller from Dimension Engineering. Using this set up in a 3-wheel test frame, I have towed a 1:1 'pop up' camper on grass, and an engineless '64 Corvair, also on grass. Also, my brother's 12 and 10 year old boys on their snow-sled, on pavement ;)

I think I will have enough steering torque with the 3200 inch-ounce servo.

Unsure as of yet, but I think the truck will have all leaf-spring suspension, since I cannot do 4-wheel-drive anyways.

Ahh, someday ;)

Great job! but you might need to open up them wheelwells a bit, or run slightly smaller tires, in the last pic, it looks like your gonna tear a hole in your tire on flex.

it looks close but its actually inside of the wheel well. The only rubbing I get is on the rear when flexed out with 4ws on. I like the truck and another guy is working on building himself one. Then we will get them both out and do some trail riding.
