I don't see any shackles on the trailer, do the springs flex at all?

Working on mounting the axle next, picking up the locknuts tomorrow for the 3mm allthread U-bolts.

I got a call from Cabela's today, going to go check out a salesman sample tent that they held for me. Hopefully it will be the right size for the trailer. If not, I've been finding some on ebay that are affordable.

let's see it

got any seamstress skillz ?
if it's still too large, you could break the seams...
cut the pattern(s) down to the appropriate size
and sew 'er back together

If I found a tent scale to muh TJ build
then I'd have to build a trailer for that too !?

hopefully what you found... turns me off !? Lol

Stupid people.....I hate stupid people. I went to Cabela's today, and the idiots misunderstood what I wanted. They thought I wanted them to let me know when the new tents came in so I could purchase a 1:1 tent. The manager said I couldn't buy the salesman samples. There were 3 different tents, and any one of them would've worked.

I'll check Sears, Target, Wal-Mart, and a couple of the thrift/goodwill stores around.

hey Mike

did you try contacting the mfg'r directly
to see if they would sell you a salesman display tent ?

Probably designed/assembled in china anyways.
Maybe start looking/inquiring directly with the chinese mfgr's sites pertaining ?

It'll be like looking for a needle in a haystack
if you hope to find one at a thrift store.

Possibly the other retail stores
might help you make contact with the original mfg'r.
But you'll probably need speak with their headquarters.
As the individual store managers probably don't know chit.

That was my next choice, in fact, the manager at Cabela's said I should contact Coleman or North Face, and ask them.

Just chatted with North Face, and they said they don't do that.

Sent an e-mail to Coleman.

I've seen them on e-bay, so that will be my last-ditch effort.

maybe inquire here...

Mini Display Tents |

tho' I'm not seeing any roof top tents...
but it doesn't hurt to inquire.

Coleman = 1-800-835-3278

I saw a few listed on ebay...
but dang... the listing prices seem kinda steep !?

I also came across this from some RV nut posting...
regarding someone that custom makes these.
May be old and no longer viable...
but could be worth a call to know more.

I've seen them on ebay, but when you look at the "purchase now" price + shipping, you could buy the 1:1 tent cheaper, lol. I've got a lady friend that's in management at Wal-Mart, she said she thought she had one at home, but has to look for it, and said she'd check in the back, at the store.

Got a reply back from Coleman today, they said they leave the salesman samples with the individual stores, and usually at the end of the year, it's up to the stores what they do with them, and I should talk to the store managers.

So, I'll hit up the various aforementioned stores, and if that doesn't get me anywhere, the link from Taco.

Mike,

I got one several years ago by catching the rep when he showed up at our local Sports Authority. Tried to pay him a little something for it, but he wouldn't take it.

Good luck. It sounds like you're going about it the prudent way.

Went to several stores today, Dick's Sporting Goods, - "nope, we don't sell them, and we threw out the discontinued ones from last years stock, back in January"; Target, "nope"; Walmart, "we don't have any, and when we do, they go to our employees".

Going to try the Goodwill store tomorrow.

I'm frustrated with these stores. I know how to sew, so I might as well put it to use, I'm going to head over to JoAnn Fabrics this weekend and see if I can pick up some Camo material, and stitch me up a canopy for the trailer. I have an idea for bows to support it. I want to be able to take the bows down and store the whole set-up in the trailer.

or you could pony up 3 bills for the RC4WD trailer/tent combo !?

I'd think if you studied the multitudes of pictures
regarding 1:1 rtt's, grnd tents on google
it would be fairly easy to replicate supports/patterns of what you want.
Just need scale those down to size.

do it !

if I could sew...
I'd replicate the RTT mounted atop my 1:1 M100 trailer.
but I can't, so I won't even try. Lol

I found that exact tent^ on the site that Taco gave me in post # 189. I tried to order it the other day and had problems on their site, so I sent them an e-mail, they responded and said they corrected the problem. I tried again this evening and had the same issue, so I sent another e-mail. If it doesn't work tomorrow, I'll try doing it the old-fashioned way, and order it over the phone, as long as the # is good.
