1:6 Maxx Based H1 Lets see if i can stick with this one guys, its been a couple years since ive built anything lol. Started with a $3 score on the hummer, and $50 for an old .15 t-maxx. Add some aluminum, sanding and primer and this is what ive got so far. The chassis is not done, need to order some parts for the rear. http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/o...155446_732.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/o...155602_458.jpg |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 I'm going to watch this build, I have a bunch of T-maxx parts that I received from a friend as a basket case, and I need some ideas. I look forward to seeing how you build it. |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 This is my 3rd or 4th maxx based 6th scale, sadly i deleted all my pics when i got out of the hobby almost 2 years ago. I do have this video slideshow of my last emaxx based H2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUk-...JfoqylNjSxkjQA |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 looks bad ass! wait, did you say 3 bucks for the hummer? |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 Yes 3 bucks lol. Goodwill and yardsales are awesome, I bought a 1:6 jesse james silverado for 3 bucks a few years ago. The 1:6 H2 above was 5 bucks. |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 Welcome back... you never really leave, just take longer breaks :) |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 This is true lol, this last break was about a year and a half. Ive never made it anywhere near that long on my previous breaks lmao. |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 Chassis pretty much finished up, need to figure out a trans to run and whatnot. http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/o...134941_324.jpg |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 Well that escalated quickly lol. Tire size actually works quite well, got some work to do to make the 2.2s play nice on the maxx though. http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/o...154016_538.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/o...154058_708.jpg |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 That looks perfect! |

Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 I like!! |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 Decided to go with 2.2/3.0 sc wheels to clear the maxx knuckles. Went with these as the hex design looked really easy to modify as well, since the maxx pins are a bit larger than 10th scale pins. http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/o...244347_854.jpg Trimmed the tire and glued right to the inside edge of the wheel instead of in the bead, gave the tire a bit wider look to it which i like better. http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/o...244353_609.jpg http://i363.photobucket.com/albums/o...244414_988.jpg |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 What's with the funky hex on the inside of that wheel?? Just a strange design |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 Thats how the hex is shaped, one of the reasons i went with these as the hex was included with the wheels and was very easy to modify to fit the larger pins. |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 Looks pretty damn scale I like it. The fullsize H1's are independent suspension. The maxx fits good. Too bad there's no portals. |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 Looks good man looking forward to more. |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 Thanks guys. Up next is mounting the body and deciding on a transmission. |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 I would say either the summit 2 speed or a Tamiya 3 speed. If you have the room run an axial ax10 trans with a dig unit as a transfer case. That way you can have multiple gears and dig on a crawler/basher or trail truck. This makes me want a H1 body. |
Re: 1:6 Maxx Based H1 Maxxs' are very stout to begin with. Personally I don't think I would trust an axial transmission as a center case. I say a 2spd summit trans. I think that sucker will bolt right in them rails right? VW, can you post a link to the tamiya 3 speed you are referring to? |
