There was a guy in my neighborhood

That made a bunch of different Fern stencils

out of cardboard boxes

and used different colors of flat spray paint and made his own

jungle leaf camo on his Yoter crawler

It was something different with the 6 different colors of leafs and different style Fern stencils

I liked it cause it was different and unique

not sure how it would look on a 1/6 scale Jeep

I noticed the different axles after Mike said something

Yup, started off with scx10 axles and spacers. Swapped in the Wraith axles primarily for improved front axle and steering performance.

Referencing photos from the initial build can be confusing in comparison to the current state. As you know, these are an evolving project!

I think I have solve my own internal dilemma with regards to leaving this body looking as stock as possible. The over arching reason was of course not to lose any of the cool detail.

Dragon is now taking pre-sale orders for their highly detailed version, to be shipped sometime in July. I've already got my money in!

Now I don't have any reservations in changing the paint and brazing up a full roll cage! I'll just get to build another!

Did you order direct from Dragon? I went to there site and it directs you to a dealer? I saw a few sites as low as $114. Nice find

Agreed! I can't wait! I think I heard this comes in kit form. For me that would be very cool not having to deconstruct before modifying. Also the steering and steering wheel are supposed to be operational. That might be a help when its time to mount up a steering wheel servo.

Robust and simple to manufacture, the 1/4 Ton 4x4 Truck is perhaps the most iconic Allied vehicle of WWII. The two wartime manufacturers of the small utility vehicle, Ford and Willys-Overland, produced a staggering total of 640,000 vehicles. This figure amounted to nearly 20% of all wheeled military vehicles built in the USA during the war. They were used in a multitude of functions by the US military, plus around 30% of all production was allocated to British and Soviet units via Lend Lease. It also continued to serve in the Korean War before it was eventually replaced.

Dragon has been gradually extending its 1/6 range of vehicles and equipment. The lineup already includes highly detailed large-scale Kbelwagen and Schwimmwagen kits, and now another vehicle is joining the range. The newcomer, the famous 1/4-Ton 4x4 Truck, represents this ubiquitous form of transport widely used by the Allied side. This model vehicle has been requested by model-makers for a long time, and now Dragon is finally fulfilling their wishes! The iconic vehicle comes in kit form, and it assembles with ease thanks to Dragons recognized engineering excellence. The vehicle comes in basic configuration with all the necessary details and features of this important 4x4 vehicle. Far from being a toy, this is a highly detailed replica of the original vehicle. Furthermore, the steering mechanism is fully workable. With its universal appeal and widespread combat use in WWII, Dragons 1/6 scale kit of the 1/4-Ton Truck is certain to be an extremely popular item with collectors and modelers alike.. SEE BELOW for additional information and manufacturer's specifications about this product.

I pre-ordered a Dragon Jeep

On June 20 from Plastic-Model-kits.com

And before the first of July I got a remind that when it ships

I can check my order tracking and status on their website

And they were hoping they are delivered to them in the next 2 weeks

I seen on another site taking pre-orders for the same Jeep but had a August release date

When I ordered it said early July

I hope so cause waiting until some time in August would suck

Yes it would, but I'm building the roll and exo cage and dismantling mine for paint. Mocking up some cut pieces using my barn find Willy's.

One other project is also ahead of the Dragon, so whenever it arrives is okay with me as long as it does arrive.

1/6 scales are a addiction

I started my Humvee its 90% done its needs paint work and a little odds and ends

Then I got the Jeep Mutt and started it. I figured out the location of the transfer case and to use a RC4WD R2 tranny up front

Read about the Dragon kit and seen the level of detail online, so I ordered one

And since passed on a WC-57 Command Car and a nice Hasbro Willy's

There is the Navy Seal version of my Jeep Mutt, it has roll bars and is a little different

And its available right now

But going to let it pass

Cause I'm holding out for 1/6 scale Dodge WC-52

I really like this body style

I found these pictures it sold for almost $1000

This thing is sweet

So I'm hoping I find one cheap

But not holding my breath

I just looked at the Plastic-Mode-Kit website

and if you look at the additional info its says due late August

I didn't look at the addition info when I ordered

Cause it says to 2 weeks to 4 weeks plus 3 to 5 days shipping

So June 20th to July 7th is 17 days

So them saying July is false, its probably more like Sept

Since there due in late August

should of paid more attention

Dam it

Its the July part and addition info on a separate page

That busts my nuts

Scratch build with Polystyrene Wow you really got me confused with some one else

I made a roll bar loop for the Humvee out 3 layers of Polystyrene and it lasted until the first roll over

The Polystyrene broke into a bunch of little pieces

So the next attempt was more layers but the end result was the same

It broke into more pieces than the first one did

So scratch building with Polystyrene is not my thing

I want to get a small bottle for my wire feed welder

And play around with some tubing and see how hard it is too weld

Cause I'm liking the roll cage and thinking I want at least a roll bar

For my Dragon Jeep

I've been kicking it around for a while now... yellow with black undercoating. I'll try to get it tore down this weekend and lay down a little color. I think I will color match the trailer too.

I've had the rollcage sitting around since last week waiting for time to finish up the exo. I was going to paint the cage yellow as well but the details of the exocage will get lost being the same color as the body.

Or maybe not, I'll color match it and see.

Pics show up om all my devices... that's weird.

Google just switched over all my photos from Picasa to Google plus, maybe that's the foul up. I'll move them and edit my posts.

There was no pictures 7-14

Just a big Minus sign

So maybe it was a size thing

Cause when I got my new to me, Samsung S6

It would not post pics until I changed the picture size

on the phone cause they were way too big

and then I was able to post pics

And I had it once reset back too large of pics

Cause The Samsung updates rest the camera settings

and did not know until it would not post pictures again

Checked the size and that was the problem

I looked on the 16th there was pictures and I can see them

But not on the 14th when I think you posted the last 2
