Mudbeast's Willies build First off let me thank GST & Steelerzman for the twisting of the arm! I read up on all the great builds for guidance so here we go! First here's the materials that will be used. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...0c2d2a136c.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...978a91c835.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...fe88018152.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...84a2f07a35.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...78bd0cbefe.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...1e175f98ef.jpg Fresh from eBay here is the jeep! It is in great shape, just missing the wind shield. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...c9f109ddab.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...ec6927da82.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...534417a5ba.jpg More to come! Re: Mudbeast's Willies build I started the chassis mods, http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...7dadb16946.jpg Then I wanted to glue in the aluminum, this stuff is no joke. When they say 1 minute they mean it! http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...b8cb2c435d.jpg Here is the chassis with the aluminum glued in. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...d52cd191ad.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build If you really need a front windshield, check a couple builds down, I think Nomad's 1/6 Willy's, they talk about getting one printed. After building my early Hasbro Jeep, I'm thinking I want to build another, but one of these models, they look more realistic than the early 70's Hasbro Jeep. |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build Great start, looks great. What's up with the driver? He looks PISSED. LOLOL. "thumbsup""thumbsup" |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build Maybe get him some goggles or sunglasses. :lmao: |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build My nephew hooked me up with him! I have googles & helmet coming! So I may not need a windshield. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build Take your time on the disassemble stage. Some of the items are tricky to remove. Lmk if you need help. Mine is damn near stripped down. I've got a few things on order that i really need to move on. "thumbsup" |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build I made some more progress last night. I got the link mounts & transfer case installed. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...32a0a2be62.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...d171d17803.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...eeecc2cb04.jpg I took a look at my drive shafts & it seems I will be needing the longer MIP drive shaft from super shafty! http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...5e6bc73ae8.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...ec905a7d89.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build Lunch break update! I was able to get the 4 link in the rear all set during my lunch hour today. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...34ee920905.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...98062f8621.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...bb8e83bfde.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build Lookin' killer. Great job. Are you sure the MIP's are too short???? If i were you I'd tighten everything down and cycle the axle and see. |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build It is only in about a 1/4 of a inch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build Gotcha, maybe just buy the longer hubs, like these.New Drive Hub 5mm Long Wraith 11117 | eBay |

Other than that... looking good on the progress !!! Are you making a cage? I have spare one available for the cost of shipping. |

I was planning on making a cage. Please send me a picture of your cage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build I agree with JP. Use another set of link mounts to move your upper link location as high as you can. It also helps on climbs. |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build I got my wheel base set at 13.25" last night. I will be moving the upper links to the highest point on the rails. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...188f2cb5cc.jpg I started looking at the engine compartment, the bottom is curved down & I was concerned about mounting the trans. So I bent up this pan. It also extends up the fender wells. I thought this may be helpful for mounting the shocks. I still need to do some adjustments. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...fa3bebc854.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...4ba45e1433.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...51e5f29c0e.jpg The motor will be swapped to the passenger side. I ordered a slipper eliminator this morning to help shorten things up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build That's incredible! Nice job. I want one! |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build Nice job so far! I'd like to suggest that you lose the slipper clutch. I used a 'regular' input shaft for the old AX-10 ( still available) in my Jerp. It freed up some valuable space under the hood. I've never had an issue without having one. "thumbsup" |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build I'm losing it, ordered one this morning! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Mudbeast's Willies build Made a small change during lunch today. Moved the upper rear links as high in the frame as I could. Also removed the bed from them. http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...ac097ae918.jpg http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/04...f3860c0590.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
