Oh hell yeah, I finished the drag link and shock install. Also centered the servo horn and adjusted the throttle expo. Looks like she's ready for tomorrow. I hope nothing goes wrong tomorrow because i would really like to get some wheel time in. This is not, I repeat, NOT the end of the build. This is JUST th beginning. There is Sooo much more to do. Anyway, here are some pic's. I may be able to get some action shots and possibly video tomorrow. |

Well, not a good day for the Willy's. There is some kind of binding issue with the drive line. The rear I/O bearing do not fit snug. The pinion has a lot of play, it seams the pocket for the bearing were milled out a hair too much Also the front needs to be clocked a bit to reduce the sharp drive shaft angle. Looks like I'll be making longer front upper links today. 3/16" should do it. |

What axles are those, just out of curiosity? You should be able to find shims to put between the bearings and the pocket for them.

Really? Where should I start looking? The axles are RC4WD. |

After some investigating, I've realize that a drive train rebuild is in order. First on the list is to flip the motor/trans. This is part of the steep drive line angle. This is what I'm talking about. Once this is corrected, then I can focus on clocking the front axle. |

Just noticed this, I can notch out the space between the seats to move the transfer case over to the drivers side about 1/2". This shoul align the drive shafts much better.

| Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops" I used a shim pack from HPi. I have no idea what car they were intended for, or what the part number was. Go to a well stocked hobby store and look at the offerings, I wouldn't be surprised if there is something available from Traxxas.

I'll take a look. I must say, I've never seen or heard of shims that correct the outside diameter of a bearing. Think of it like this. Drill a hole @ 11.15 mm and install a 11mm bearing. Maybe this will clear things up. |

I misunderstood, I thought that the depth of the bearing pocket was too deep. There is such a thing as shim plastic, it comes in a spiral type of holder, each thickness is color coded for easy identification. You could cut a sliver and wrap the bearing. |

Huh, that's interesting. I'll have to pull the gears and get some measurements. Thanks. |

After a bit of measuring, the RC4WD Axle housings bearings channels are inconsistent and not worth the added effort to try to correct. I have this on the way. DIAMOND CENTERED REAR AXLE FOR AXIAL WRAITH (BLACK) |

The housing has shipped and should be here on Thursday, depending on how the postal system works. Hopefully I'll get it in time to install it and get it set up correctly. |

Got a little time to assemble the new SSD rear, centered axle housing. First off, beautiful housing and machining. Great job. I really like that the upper link mount is built in. The larger bearing fir the pinion is fantastic. I noticed that the ring/pinion gears need to be slightly shimmed. I have found the pinion shims, I just need to find the larger ring gear shims. Once I have them, I can get back to building. I'll post some pic's soon. |

Pic's are up. I'm still working on assembling the axle, I found something else I'm concerned about. The screws that hold the end cap/hexpin bearing are a bit too long. If I snug them down the bite the axle shafts. I can feel the resistance and see the wear marks on the screws. |

I thought you would like to see the difference between the SSD &RC4WD. Both are centered for the Wraith and are aluminum, also they both appear the be CNC'd. Anyway, on with the pic's. |
