AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops"

Hey all, I have a 1/6th Willy's Jeep made by Hasbro, '02.
My plan is to transform it into an "Era specific" Recon" rig.

I've got some work done, but not all of it is set in stone. I'll get some pic's posted this weekend.

Please post up any vavaluable and important info I may need to build this COOL ASS rig.
Thank you, John.

Did you weld up your own chassis design? I'd like to see some pics of just the chassis, it looks sturdy, and with the way the links are bolted up in the front, almost looks like a modified wishbone like you'd see on a street rod. Looks interesting."thumbsup"

The chassis is SCX10 that's been modified. I'll post some pic's soon.

I originally build the chassis for this build.
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/formu...off-build.html

Unfortunately, I had to abandon it because there's no longer a place to run it😢

Thanks, I looked through it also for some decent chassis pic's, but couldn't find anything useful.
I'll get some soon.

I just mocked up a SS tierod. It inly took 3 attempts. :lmao: I hate wasting material.

Not too happy with the results. Any suggestions? Thanks."thumbsup"

How are they attached? Glued or are you going to use screws and nuts?, maybe move them a little more out from center? Check some of the other later model builds?

Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops"

There bolted in at the moment. I think I need a better hinge, these are odd. 1" along the pivot and 3/4" across.

I can barely open the hood 90`

Hey Mike, here are some close up pic's of the he altered chassis.

https://a2-images.myspacecdn.com/ima...cf/300x300.jpg

The original design was to mimic a 1:1 jeep suspension.
4 link with a panhard front and 4 link with tracking bar on the rear.
Now it's only 4 link rear and 3 link front.

Here's the tierod that I made up. I used SS tubing and 3mm X 20mm long set screws with Traxxas rodends.

Re: AWIP, 1/6 Willy's Jeep. "Special Ops"

The tube for your cage looks a bit thin. I used 1/4" brake line for mine, and it doesn't even weigh a pound, and that was after brazing and adding threaded ends to where it bolts through the body. Or is that just a wire form you're using?

On the hinges, they look like they're mounted right, with the hinge on the outside, you should get a better opening, maybe try some different hinges, I don't know.

I really like they chassis, I'm interested on how the front suspension works, the rear looks fine.
