It would be nice to see the 40 series PITBULL tires made into a 1/5 scale tire!

Yeah, and 1499 without engine and with 2 waterproof servos. That is a great price considering the included stuff. Now I have to (patiently) wait a few more months!

The tire size is massive even though they look small. Listed as 7.32" x 2.91". Not many tires will be bigger than that other than the RC4WD 40 series tires.

I personally think for the size these would be nice - 8.46" x 3.12" - so a bit over an inch taller and just a hair wider:

For the price of this thing, I can put a set of BFG KO2's on my Patriot!

You will need to modify the tires to fit (custom wider) 5th scale beadlocks to make it work. I would not recommend the tires unless you were crawling. They are heavy and while 5th scale is fairly HD, if you land in the throttle kiss the parts goodbye. I have several pairs of the TSL's and Demolishers(on a 6x6) and they are brutal. However Id love to see it so get Kraken!! (pun intended)

Patiently waiting on DDM to hook it up.... Merry Christmas to meno matter how long I gotta wait.

Like Josh said - 1/5 beasts are a bit different than the crawling world. Hurling ~45 pounds around at 40-50MPH puts a lot of strain on things. Unless the tires and foams have been run at speeds like that I would probably shy away. Adapting the tires to work with 1/5 style bead locks is unlikely so you would be needing to use wheels made for those tires now, and the hex hubs on the Kraken are 24mm - I don't know what those super series wheels are set up with.

Time frame is looking good for early 2016 release. I am still placing my bets on a February date (just in time for my birthday!). Kraken is heading over to the manufacturing facility to review and sign off on a final production unit this month, once that is done then full production will go and the cars will be on the water in December!

I'm the only guy that has done this tire to wheel swap and I would have to agree because of the weight. The RC4WD mud slingers are very tough and have good thick sidewall, but it is only a 7.55'' tall tire. I plan on doing this Kraken as a brushless build so that I'm able to use the torque to play in the rocks. I also like reverse! "Income tax season"

Most recent photos, this is a truck featuring 90% final production pieces:

That will clean up nice with a brushless system!

I see a 1/5 scale trophy truck in my future... The Losi 5t body dimensionally looks to be nearly a perfect fit.

I figure I could bump this thread. I have had my VEKTA for a few weeks and have had a chance to put a couple of tanks of fuel through it.

This is without question my favorite 1/5 I have ever had. This truck is pants-on-head crazy. Photos do no justice, you really have to see it in person to appreciate.

I have a few videos posted on my YouTube channel that you can check out too.

It's hard to beat the looks of the Yeti XL! I think it's the best looking buggy body that you can buy. I don't care for the rest of it so much though. I wonder how well the Kraken would stand up to 8s brushless power? Hmmm

I had a HPI Baja with Kraken cage and 8s castle system. And it was way underpowered, it worked ok without the kraken cage, but with it, it was to heavy, this is even heavier. My guess is you need to go up to a 12s power system

It depends on the Brushless system that is used. Iwill be using the TP brushless motor around 1000 kv and that is enough on 8s to do what I want. I like the new Hobbywing 8s esc and will be using it to power this Beast. Also I may be using a lower gear to run this and keeping the speed down at first and working up. I may also look into running a 2 speed transmission to get what I want from this buggy.
