Default Klampyz large thread

Hi folks. Just thought I'd open up a single thread for the multiple large scale projects I'm about to partake in.

1/6 F250 trophy.
1/6 mustang 4wd rally.
1/8 MOA 8x8 hauler /based on mongo but not really
And also a 1/6 nsx which may end up as a low slung tarmac racer yet. An older project that got broken and never repaired.

I'll post pics later today of each vehicle.

so ill keep it in order, starting with the F250. yeti suspension is too wide without doing any body work. so might just get a solid axle in front yet. not 100% so far.

here it is with the yeti under it. tad short....

the mustang.

and the pile of parts for the hauler.

and finally, the NSX which is broken since its maiden voyage where the aerial wasnt actually plugged into the receiver and it took off at full 4s brushless throttle into a concrete wall once it moved more than 4m away from me. sometimes Failsafe, isnt actually safe..... lesson learned.

The trophy truck and 8x8 sound cool, like to see where they go, and I have to agree with Mike, unless you're going to make a hillbilly crawler with the Mustang!

i wasnt entirely excited about the yeti. drove it for all of two hours maybe total run time. not nice enough to be a trail truck, too wide to run with my scaler mates, and i felt it didnt handle well enough at speed to be even equally competitive to a sct on the race track.

so i swapped it for something im likely to very much enjoy. an off-its-head baja.

heres the new baja. getting work done to the motor, its a bitza, king motor/rovan concoction thing, will only start on the fastest of pulls otherwise just wont, or backfires, etc. being a bitza motor i think what was wrong was that the skirt of the piston would uncover the exhaust port at tdc which i think was causing the fuel mix to pretty much go into the pipe rather than staying in the crankcase.
anyway, ordered a new thicker gasket to lift the head a little, and when i opened it up noticed quite a few mismatched ports, in the manifold and also in the pipe too, like the heads machined huge but the pipe opening is tiny... almost tempted to make my own flange and reweld it.... but dremel should get me far enough this time...

anyway, on to a couple pics of the monster that is the destroyer of yetis.

Do you have a video of this beast running?

Unfortunately not yet. It's not even had a complete tank of petrol thru it yet for being a turd to get running.

I've just come in trying to identify the reason and feel like. Arebuild with thicker gaskets should help, along with a few select manifold changes etc. I'll post up video as soon as it's running properly

You might be able to fabricate an electric start with a cordless drill. How big is the nut on the inside of the recoil housing, or figure out a way to get a drill to mate up with the shaft.

I'd prefer to get it working properly with pull starter. Don't fancy needing a drill in thebpocket every time I wanna run it

Found a second one of the big ford truck. So now I'm torn for what to build with them. I'd love to go gnarly truggy but I think just a basic tuff truck should be one build and keep the other as a faster trophy style. Was tempted to go low and street rig but not sure.
What does the forum think?

TT or street truck, either would be good for a go-fast.

But definitely keep one setup as a trail truck then is what you're saying?

Yes, trail truck and trophy truck or trail truck and street truck, that way you have 1 go-fast and 1 trail/crawler.

HPI Blitz actually.

going to be running 3.0 size buggy wheels under it, the red one will actually be getting this chassis setup. prerunner/trophy style.

edit: just realised i forgot to mention, i also have a red version of the same truck. exact same body, just red/silver.

Just some more mock ups.

Trophy is gonna run 3.0 buggy rims. Unsure on tires yet but have already picked the rim style, and are going to be mounted in reverse for mad dish. And as the next pic shows, its a little narrow on the normal direction. Not only that but everyone loves dish right?

Yeh not quite. They're the hubs from my yeti kit. The lip fits perfectly in the hole so I've machined the hex out and will be drilling the six stud pattern.
