| A jeep of a different color!
Looking at all of these gi joe jeep builds I just had to get one. I snagged one off of ebay fairly cheap and began brainstorming. I wanted to build a half cab for my jeep as I haven't found a build with one yet. I didn't want to do the same old military build so I began thinking of ideas to try to be different. In my adventures of trying to find a driver I stumbled across a gi joe astronaut. Light Bulb! Well a NASA themed jeep sounds pretty sweet to me. I haven't decided on AR60s or scx10 axles, but I have a divorced transfer case and am thinking about a direct drive for the power plant. as-5 esc and a venom lipo.

I like the idea of a half cab, reminds me of the one I saw as a kid at the local Standard gas station, that they would use to plow the lot with. In the bed they had a small generator and Lincoln welder for helping stranded motorists, and he had an empty rim mounted on the spare tire carrier, with extension cords and jumper cables wound around. |

The half back idea is great, it never crossed my mind. Keep going with the plan. You have my attention. |

Okay guys I would like some input. The colors for this jeep will be blue and white. My question is should I paint the top blue or white?

I have to try to find some old pics from the mid '80s when a buddy of mine had a half cab '2A in high school. His was a light metallic blue with a white top.

Well I decided on how I want to paint the top. Blue and White! ha. I put a seem around the top portion with a strip of styrene and used that as the dividing point between blue and white. Im making progress just waiting for my leaf springs to arrive. I think I am going to use my ar60's from under my death proof corvette. Does anyone know what size scale hardware I would need to convert all of the bolts on the ar60's over?

small update I'm still waiting on my leaf springs and U bolts to arrive so can finish up the chassis. I got the nasa logo painted on the hood ( its not perfect but i just wiped it up free hand) I also tried my hand at making a jerry can from styrene.

That's a pretty nice free hand NASA, great job!, the jerry can doesn't look bad either. If you go through my Jeep thread, I made a jerry can to hide a 9v battery to power my taillights.
