1/8 scale New Bright F150
 

I picked up a new bright body for next to nothing and i wanted to make a scale tow rig out of it for my trailer and 1/10 crawler.

I'm doing a very simple build with alum rails and some stock axle wraith parts.
I might upgrade the parts later on down the road but 1st i just want it running.

Stock wraith axles
Transmission and skid plate
As well as links and some hard wear.

Not sure if i will use 1.9 rc4wd wheels or not yet but there good for mock up

As for mounting the body i will use body posts under the body and make some brackets. Still working on ride height and were to mount the shocks.
But i have wheel base right. Its 17in WB

I have made some headway on the susp. Front was easy as its all wraith.
But rear i wanted to do something that would look cool.

Thank you Hot Racing, I found out that the Yeti XL arms are almost spot on,
So now its a Wraith/Yeti style susp.

I will have more flex then i need so limit straps and bump stops will be needed.
I do have shocks in it now but there just to hold it together, When its finished and at full weight i will have to see what to use then.

Yes it did. After i have it running and work out the bugs i will build a nice custom frame for it. Main goal is to have it running fast

I haven't updated this in a bit. Thats all my own fault. Just to busy and forget to,,,, Anyway

The Raptor works better then i expected and everyone that has seen it so far on trials thinks its a neat truck and there surprised at how well it works for a big truck with tinny tires.

...looking at the picture above ^
it looks as if the wheel base could be extended slightly.

Mostly in the rear... but maybe a smidgen up front as well.

Is there a video of it running !?
hard to tell if it wheels as good as you would claim.
Looks like the rear susp. would ride more softly...
whereas the fronts, not so much.
but I'll guess you tuned the susp. accordingly.

why did you choose the progressive / rear shock mounting ?

Or are both the front and rear progressive
and the pictures are not reflective ?

What's the over-all length of that raptor body ?

I need a trailer too...
but that one costs way too much !!
and it still needs some work IMO.

In that pic there were no axles in it., I was looking at size mostly and how it would work with trailer and crawler scale wise,
But it works very well now and i have a few vids already.

that background music killed it for me.
Not really supportive off road wheeling IMO
Yes I realize I can turn it down and play my own.
and I did.

But I was really hoping to hear yer rig running
with minimal noise interference.

I dont do alot of vids speaker in back of the truck like that. Most of my vids i add music or let sounds of the run stay.

yeah sometimes an overlay is necessary...
especially when filming using slow mo/60fps or the like.

But other then that ^
I prefer to hear the natural sounds.

And if I chose to need more entertainment,
would play background music that is of my genre.

Had a little time to work on Raptor.
Rear bumper is mostly finished and mounted.
Kinda looks like crap till i clean it up but welding in the cold with flux core sucks.
Still need to make tow hitch as well as 2 brackets for shackles to mount to.
Mesh cargo net and some kind of roll bar will finish out the back of it

Once you grind off the slag, and paint it , the bumper should look fine. Definitely needs a rollbar of some sort, maybe a rack like cmbscx10 did on his F350 HD build

After i clean it up it will look better till i start bashing it off some rocks,
I still need to make hitch for it and shackle points, Pondering a 3rd bar that will go under the body.


I did pick up a few more New Bright bodys. 1 red and 1 gray so i now have extra's in case i damage one. I do like red one and will use this one for scale vids.

Where are you finding the bodies? I like that big beefy front bumper "thumbsup"
