Not much this evening as the gas solenoid on my welder is going out and using more gas. Been having to turn the bottle off manually. Tank is almost empty anyways.

Simple c-channel rear bumper.

Hey looking very stout, nice work. These big jeeps are sweet, I'm very interested to see how this one looks in the end!

Some work done.

Extended out the rear axle and the jeep now sits at 14" wheelbase.
Moved the shocks. Pivot bolt goes through fender well.

...looking good "thumbsup"

ummm

but what are those upper shock mounts secured to ?

metal shock tower's behind the plastic of the body - inner fender well ?

Don't say "just the body plastic" !?

more detail please
before I call it less then ideal !? Lol/jk

Re: Crawler Innovations, Szczerba Built, & JWalker Designs Willys Build

The shock mount has three points of attachment to the 1/8" thick inner fender. There is no concern on it failing, the plastic is too thick and the shock mount has three points of attachment on 2 planes.

edit, I can see your concern now. I didn't have the two top mount screws screwed in in the picture I posted. lolz

Don't sell the plastic body short- my rear upper shocks only go through the body with a nut on the backside ( inside of the jeep body, where the rear seat goes), it hasn't failed yet.

Yup, nice and thick 1/8" plastic or so.

All the tube work tacked in place.

like your fender tube work "thumbsup"

I'll be doing something similar for my TJ

well except the part of removing body material
to open the rear wheel well(s) rearward like yours.

...cool
but I can't come to terms with permanently altering my body.

Thanks. Nothing too special, just following the body lines. Front bumper helped the overall look too I think.

I'm liking this build. I have a couple of large scale jeep builds. One I'm completely re building so that performance is unmatched. The tires I'm using are the Rock Beast XL that just came out. It uses a 16'' wheelbase.
It will be fun to see what level of performance yours will be at. The scale it top notch.

Back on it.

Chopped all but the front windshield hoop out.

It still has the willys "tallish" cage look but way less dramatic.

You guys seem to have enough of these Jerps to start an invasion somewhere! "thumbsup"

I'm always enjoying seeing all of the different twists on how these models get built. I still believe that these are the most fun you can have going slow!
