Cutting an inch out of the middle of the window frame is the way to go, although you might be better off just making a new shorter frame out of styrene. And if you look at your post #77 you'll see that the door frame windows sit lower than the stock windshield, so if you take an inch out of the front windshield, you'll also have to take an inch out of the side windows as well, then you won't end up with that gap in the corners, capish? ( understand )

If you look at the 2 pictures of the Black Humvee

You will see the top of the doors stop before the pillars start

The curve of the roof

So I might get lucky and only need to trim a little off the top of the doors

the front pillar is 1'' taller than the top of the doors

Sometimes when you can't sleep at night

You just got fire up the chop shop

and this is what happens

I dropped 1'' out of the front windshield pillar and windshield, its not pretty but is even and square

needs to glued or backed with styrene and filled and sanded

I chopped an 1/8'' off the top of the doors, and I cut out a 3/8'' section of the doors out, any more the angles on the doors would not line up

The doors lost about a 1/2'' in total, I might trim the doors a little more to drop the top of the doors

and make it look a little more the Black Humvee

Did you delete your thread in the paint and body section? If you shorten the height of the window opening in the door you will most likely need to cut the top of the door and lengthen the top of the door to keep the angles correct. You might not like answers like this but you are trying to do a simple chop top and people are trying to help you.

Its been dropped and chopped

I'm going to order styrene and see if I can find some ABS glue, to re-attach the front pillar back in and the seats need glued in also

I had to chop an 1/8'' of an inch out of the doors

Too get the exact look I wanted

now the top doors stop just as the curve of the roof begins

now the middle loop is possible

cause the chop is open 24hrs

I tried to start my lay out of the chassis rails

And are having problems figuring out

How to layout the front and rear shock loops on the plate

Before I cut out my chassis rails

So the shocks are straight up and down and my wheelbase is correct

I mounted 2 rear SCX10 shock loops onto the top of the straight chassis rails

I then mocked up the front axle and mounted the shocks to the shock loops

At where I thought was the correct position but its not cause the shocks are not straight up and down

And when they are straight up and down the axle looks to far forward and does not look right

Now I'm not sure of where the shock loops go

To draw them out in my chassis rails layout

So there in the right position and the wheel base is correct

Now its back to square one, cause I have no idea how to do this, layout and design is not my thing

And none of this is easy for me

Stuck now

Make the shock hoops separate from the chassis rails. Wont look as tidy but its an easy way to get them mounted exactly where they need to be.

It cost me more for the 16 Traxxas Revo rod ends

the #3547 the ones that 8/32 all thread into

I bought 2 36'' pieces of 8/32 all thread some 8/32 nuts to un-booger the threads after cutting

I went to Napa the only place that sells brake line in 5ft pieces and it would of cost me over $30, just for the 1/4 brake line

So when browsing thru Lowes, I discovered the plastic tubing in the Drip line area

It is 1/4'' Poly Tubing, it comes in different colors, I got the black and I almost bought the Dark Green tubing, I saw they have brown, light grey, maybe red

The tubing slides over the all thread easily and does not look that bad

I got 50 feet of it for less then $5.00 for the roll

I made one link to see what they will look like

I like it, they are going to look dam good for home made links

Taking a break on the chassis while waiting for my rod ends

CKRC was out of stock of the Rod Ends, so I ordered some and checked out there new store

Its pretty nice setup, they got a lot more room and a lot of new stuff they are now selling

kgb do you think that plastic tubing is going to strengthen
the all-thread enough to keep it from bending ?

Especially since you told me slowww sucks.
And hauling butt is the only way you'll roll

I've seen links made with metal tubing slid over the all-thread
and I can see how that increases the all-thread's strength.

But I really don't see plastic tubing increasing strength
or really being very grind durable.

You probably saved a buck today...
but you'll likely be spending more again later.

good luck with yer budget chit !? Lol

At Napa they only had 2 sizes of brake line the first one is smaller on the inside then 8-32 and it would not fit, I tried to shove it there

The next size they carry is 1/4'' and it is just like the tubing, the 8-32 all thread slides in easily

There is a little play or gap between the all thread and tubing, and the same with the brake line

They had 51'' pieces and 30'' inch pieces of brake line and other lengths with fittings on both ends

They don't sell plain brake line, the kind you use a flanging tool, too make your own brake lines

I need to make my links and then see how many feet I need

Its on now

for almost $11.00

and the same Revo rod ends I ordered

Bought a 10-24 tap and drill bit combo

and 2 pieces of 10-24 all thread 36'' long

and a package of 10-24 nuts

Once I get the links to length

I will then look for some tubing of some sort

10-24 uses 1/4 tubing and there is very little gap in between

Cause they won't bend that easy

So and have a nice day

See exactly what I'm talking about

I contacted venders on here a few times and my money is no good

no still don't even get the no thank you or interest in your products

nothing, Cause GCM makes a 21'' inch leaf spring chassis,

and have contacted at least 3 times and again nothing

asking them what wheel base is achievable

And if a 16 1/4'' wheel is possible with their chassis

And no reply's and the same for the other venders I contacted

The only venders to reply back where Holmes Hobbies, R2J, And Duuuuuude

The first 2 were when I first got on here, and Duuuuude was recently and the same day, I asked a question he replied

the rest of them don't even bother

what you talkin' 'bout Willis ?

the Vendors here don't want your money !?

really ?! cash up front ?

never heard of a capitalist turning down money ? hmmm

who'd you inquire with ?

I'd vouch for your easy nature/honesty of doing business with.

but, hand holding... I'm not so good at

------ because you edited yer gibberish --------

You're probably inquiring with the wrong vendors

rccrawlers > vendors > vendors market > chassis and suspension

read thru those threads
and inquire with the vendors whom build frame rails /or custom chassis's.

gotta be someone there that likes money !?
