Haven't had much time lately but it actually rained here in Cali and got a few hours off. Wired and soldered the lights and the fan. The little fan amazingly moves quite a bit of air through the engine compartment, everything should run very cool. SSD parts will be released any day now, then I can put the axles together. | Re: Willys fever Not new axles, new spline tubes and I believe axle shafts and steering links for the D 60. They are on their site now and RPP should have them any day, fallowed by the other bits. Can't wait! Swiped from M8 with RooT privileges |

Sweet I will need to get some of these they are very scale looking! With all the parts needed it might be a little spendy. http://www.ssd-rc.com/d60-axle-wide-...ass-tubes.html Last edited by twissted; 03-14-2016 at 08:42 AM. |

| Re: Willys fever I'm sure I could..... the axial xr10 axles will work. But I'll just wait for the ssd ones, I've already been waiting, I'll wait a bit longer Swiped from M8 with RooT privileges Last edited by robbo; 03-21-2016 at 10:22 PM. |

Got some parts to assemble the axles enough to start The rear links. I'm a fan of SSD parts, I like how simple they are in design and you get all the screws to put it all together. The rear lock outs they use grub screws to give it that clean look. I just made sure to use plenty of loctite. Swiped from M8 with RooT privileges |

This is the best setup for links that has worked well for me. Two different revo rod ends, 1/4"*Female Threaded Round Standoffs of different lengths http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-th...doffs/=11p9hkf Cup Point*Set Screws http://www.mcmaster.com/#set-screws/=11p9xaw First determine the length of Link needed, then used the closest standoff that will make the length including the rod ends. The length can be fine tuned several ways. To shorten the link, mill, file or grind the standoff. If a substantial amount of material needs to be removed and as a result too much thread is removed. The standoff can easily be drilled because there is already a pilot hole. Then finish tap the newly drilled part of the hole with a 8/32 tap. 3/8-1/2 of tapped depth is best. To add length to the link the longer rod ends can be used and/or cut to a longer length then the standard rod end. A razor knife can be used or my preferred method is, run the set screw in and use a pipe cuter to get a square cut. Standard Revo rod end Longer Revo rod end cut down but longer then standard rod end. There you have it... new strong links! Back at it after a long brake. Worked on the front axle and got it mocked up pretty close to what it's going to be. Got the steering link and the panhard link identical size and parallel, 4 7/8" long. There is absolutely zero bump steer and due to the long links the axle will stays centered for most its cycle. This Willys is going to have great steering and articulation. I believe I nailed the geometry! Panhard axle bracket to extend the SSD bracket. Modified a link for chassis panhard link to mount to and fab'd braces to hold the bumper I should get the SSD axle shafts, c-hubs, knuckles and a few others tid bits Monday from RPP, and should have a roller next week..... finally Swiped from M8 with RooT privileges |

Got the cvd's chubs n knuckles today. Very nice fit n finish. The cvd's are heavy duty for sure. The only exception was the fit of the chub to the spline tube. A bit too much slop imo. Once the screws got tightened it was good but, not sure how they will hold up in the long run. Mite try aluminum tape to rid some of that slop. And the final result, no spacers and mega steering, yeah! Will Mont shocks soon I hope. Got an extra set for Orange Willys with the orange knuckles and a new servo.
