Project Clod Slaughter What had started out as my Clod Killer has now undergone surgery once again...muhahaha!! This goliath now sits on a 17" wheelbase using clodbuster wheels & tires. Although I had to also customize these to fit the 12mm hex using the alloy hubs from VP. However, these Tamiya wheels are absolutely worthless!! The crap plastic breaks when you litterly spit at them. Haha I recently ordered ProLine brawler wheels with a +17.5mm offset along with the 2.6 RC4WD Mud Slingers for this. clamp style rear lockouts ordered. Few things in this monster... Electronics: Sidewinder3 esc CC BEC Hs5646sh servo (i think thats the model)?? Diffs(f/r): Axial alloy differential housing Axial rear lockouts STRC C-Hubs VP CVDs STRC diff holders VP Diff-Lockers Axial hardened steel ring&pinion STRC trusses Titanium steering links Suspension: Alloy piggyback shocks Traxxas white springs/front Axial springs/rear 30w oil Transmission: Alloy transmission case Axial DIG Alloy spacers - green Axial heatsink motormount Castle motor w/Integy fan It rests on a scx10 chassis but fab'd in the wraith skid to allow for use of the transmission from it. Bracing is also custom based from the scx10 crossmembers soforth. Internals are all uprated to hardened steel etc, there are no plastic parts internally to the diffs nor transmission. It even has DIG for those sharp corners. Lol Im still workin on this beast... I just made the custom links this weekend using 8-32 threadrod, 1/4" brakeline and traxxas rod ends. Here is how it looked this last friday. Re: Project Clod Slaughter Twist-O-Flex! |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter Came across my first mishap today where i came to install the interior. The entire upper cage was set far too backwards. After a few more hours of correcting this it is almost there. I present to you the rolling chassis. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...4c6d0a16ac.jpg Now im on the waiting game of parts to come ordered from my LHS: Proline 17.5mm Brawler offset wheels RC4WD Mud slinger tires cancelled RC4WD Punisher II driveshafts x2 cancelled Axial Lexan interior set Mine is trashed from so many builds in the past. Cancelled Axial rear lockers - clamping type. recieved Need to fab up something to get my RC4WD steel bumper back on the chassis? For this task im thinking of cutting some steel to extend the chassis and simply bolt everything up? Managed to find a cheap tube bender at KMS tools so now i can put the bend on my upper links to clear the shafts. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...2a5c4fe8ba.jpg |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter Been working on and off this beast all day and after work... Upper links were removed and given a 30° bend. After doing so, there were some binding issues that i resolved. Here is the update so far: http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...e30a2e98ce.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...31be243d1b.jpg |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter Very different! Pretty cool. Nice job. |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter After finishing late lastnight and coming back to this this morning i still was unhappy with how the rear upper links were contacting the scx10 crossmembers. Ive taken those all out for good and came up with a custom rear deck whereas the crossmembers arent needed. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...3729cb93b2.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...e64988c7f8.jpg Now with that out of the way and fitment is good. I now have to tear it down and paint the rear deck black. Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter Painted rear deck & side panels this afternoon. Starting to get to the point where there isnt much else to do until my parts start arriving? Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...3c4dc57dbc.jpg Front bumper is now done... Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter Opted to mount up my Apache C1 rear shocks x4 as i needed much more dampening. Poor 10th scale shocks just cant keep up to this titan. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...bf82ca51d4.jpg Old vs New http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...cd11fba377.jpg http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...eb1f6f2187.jpg Swapped springs out for the softer white ones. Now atleast this thing can flex its muscle. Although i still need to maybe swap pistons but i will definetly need 15w oil. I believe something like 70w are in them now. Self-edit; Now the shox are rebuilt using the 6hole piston instead of the 4hole which was in there. Also dropped the oil and fresh 15w in its place. Damn it works nice now! http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...c626cc37f8.jpg Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter Things sometimes just p!$$ me off!! I ended up tearing this front end down now i believe for the 3rd time now because of how things were mounted up or just plain sloppy. So.... I removed the platform i had in place along with the radiobox and scx10 crossmember. Things are rewired and rerouted to thier destination. Ill be plastidipping the Rx seen on the firewall (not permenantly mounted yet). None of the parts i ordered arrived this week either? Boo! Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk |

Re: Project Clod Slaughter http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...446ae4628a.jpg Woke up at 3am and couldnt sleep so got cracking on some other details. Electrical cleaned up and routed. Sealed my Rx with silicone but cant mount it under dash until it cures. At this point.... I REALLY need my parts too show up now. Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk |

Re: Project Clod Slaughter After looking at some other build here in the forums... Where are you guys getting these huge bodies from? I could easily drop one on this chassis to make it a true 8th or so scale rig? Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter E-bay, craigslist, somebody's trash, garage sales |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter Ok...ill keep my eyes open. However i have a question: The punisher shaft II from rc4wd which i need are out of stock. Im curious on the e-revo shafts for now to get me going. Are they a 5mm hole and around 7" + length? Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter I have a cheap but not perfect F-150 body for sale in the classifieds, would look good on that chassis. Nice build. Wes |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter Oooooooo!! Self edit; Found it but i would consider mid 70s ford f150 For outta boredom i painted the front grille. It needed something to break it up. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...b978a9c030.jpg Now ive run into a problem? The rc4wd punisher shaft II's i wanted arent in stock and from what i was told are garbage anyhow. I was at my LHS this morning to pair up whatever was on the wall with no success. I managed to use x2 hollow side wraith shafts and a 2sided spline. Glued the one side into the hollow shaft with CA but i know that it wont last too long. I messed with it for the 1st time outside in 2wd and it was fun although hard to drive due to its powerband. I need a steel shaft in the 7" + range using a 5mm output from tranny & diff. What are my options?? Help! Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter I don't know who told you they were garbage, I have one on my 1/6 Jeep, and been beating on it for the last 2 years, and no problems |
Re: Project Clod Slaughter Ok... Apparently the silver ones are trash. Black ones are great i guess? Sent from my LG-D852 using Tapatalk |
