Here is a Jeep Build using

A transfer case under the floor plan

It gives me ideas cause I like how they

Mounted leaf springs I could do that if the SCX10 axles were wide enough

I also like the fact he mounted the orignal tires and rims by mounting

Them on plastic 1.9'' rim so it really has a scale look

Not sure if the tires would have any traction at all

Would look killer though

Thanks to jason1973

For hooking me up with a RC4WD R2 transmission and a 32 pitch pinion

Now I'm looking for a small 1:1 transfer case

I seen some come with a mounting plate

Need to look

Its a good thing

I ordered a rebuild kit for the R2

I took it apart and cleaned it with some Simple Green and some Rubbing Alcohol

And you can see the teeth are elongated on gears and worn

I used a liitle Red And Tacky and hooked a motor up it too see if it smooth out any

And there is a little vibration it might be the short shaft is bent enough at hight rpm you feel it

It fits nicely in the space under the hood

I used a piece of 2 faced tape to mock it up

And the R2 fits better than the SCX10 tranny did cause it was cocked

And not flat because the motor hits the fender wall that is tapered so it lifts one side of the transmission

And I would have to make a mount some how

The R2 sit flat and the output shaft is in line with the transfer case

I'm going to have to make some spacers for in between the mounting plate

And the transfer case to aline the drive shaft angles

The transfer case and mounting bracket are on a slow boat from China

And R2 kit is coming from RC4WD so who know when it will ship

They have screwed me on shipping twice before

Going to order a couple different 32 tooth pitch pinions

So if I understand this right

The higher number of teeth on the pinion

The slower the output shaft spins

Correct ??

What size pinion would you select

I have a couple 14 teeth pinions

Not sure of what size pinion to buy

Any suggestions ??

8T = 30.4:1
9T = 27.0:1
10T = 24.3:1
11T = 22.1:1
12T = 20.3:1
13T = 18.7:1
14T = 17.4:1
15T = 16.2:1
16T = 15.2:1
17T = 14.3:1
18T = 13.5:1
19T = 12.8:1
20T = 12.2:1

I personally would try the 14t
But think that may be too slow for your like.
so I might think the 16t might be nearer to your start point.

Regardless...
I would purchase 16t / 18t pinions to have more options.
But realize I'm more about torque and slower crawl speeds.

Not much difference is noticed when changing one tooth
on a 48p pinion.
Tho' two teeth difference is usually more noticeable.
But honestly that may be different when running 32p gears.
So maybe someone else will chime in regarding.

But I'd use the 14t first and make note of your top speed
and what speeds you wish to attain.
Check the motor's temp as you increase the pinion's tooth count.

150* - 170* F... I would think should be the desired heat range.

I don't know squat about that Tekin 35t motor
as I use the HH TM 35t motors instead.

But if the Tekin 35t is near similar in torque
you should net near the same performance
That the HH TM 35t would have.
would be my guess.

---------

Why does your center transmission have a forward/rearward input shaft ?
Guess I'm not familar with that need.

Again... I'm not familiar with the RC4WD R2's internal 32p gearing.
Nor how that might have effect on pinion tooth selections.
It's possible the increasing or decreasing one tooth on the pinion
may have a more noticeable effect when using the R2.

wish you good luck in your venture

^ That's the one!

Looks like he actually used 2 transmissions, one on the motor, and one as a transfer case.

They guy said he was going to change out the second tranny for a transfer case

But they have not posted any thing in long time

I'm thinking of buying another Wraith skid plate and split it

Down the middle and use the skid plate halves for my upper and lower link mounts

There is no other Jeep Mutt builds out there too get ideas from

So once again its comes down too me coming up with some thing

Bad ass like I did with the Humvee

My style of Humvee has not been built until I did mine

I figured out the R2 and the transfer case

Just need to figure out a chassis

Maybe 2 subfames

I'm open too suggestions

I think you've got the right idea, and are on a good track. You did very well with the Humvee, you'll figure out a similar chassis for this one!

Does anybody know

do you need hardened pinion gears

To use with a R2 transmission ??

I ask cause I found this 8 tooth 32 pitch that says its specially for the R2 transmission

I looked on the RC4WD web site the harden 8 tooth 32 pitch pinion is discontuined

So what pinions are you supposed too use

Cause my 14 tooth 32 pitch pinions are hardened like the 8 tooth one

There normal pinions in the second picture

What do you think ??

alrighty then

I got my R2 rebuild kit today

This thing now spins like butter

It was the gears and the short shaft

Going to have to take it apart and clean it one more time

I used a little Red and Tacky #2 and then cleaned it and then tried some Green Water Proof Marine grease

And it flung both of greases off over the inside of the transmission

I'm going to use this Tiger Drive Dry Ice Race Lube

I have been using it on the Mips drive shafts on my SCX10's

And the Dry Ice leaves a film

there is nothing to fling off

I will have to give it a try

Yeah Baby

I'm liking my Wraith with SCX10 axles

And 1.9'' tires and wheels

I tried my Pitbull Rock Beasts and they are not tall enough

I then tried my XL Super Swampers and they are just right and I like the height

When I had the AR60 axles on my Wraiths I had 2 that I parted out

I was using the curved Axial rods ends and don't know what the wheel base was

But with the SCX10 axles the wheelbase was 14'' using the curved rod ends so with the AR60' axles the wheel was 14 1/4'' to 14 1/2'' is my guess

I changed out the rods end to the short ones in the picture on the right they are alot shorter

They came from extra part trees that I forgot where they were stashed

And it shorten the wheelbase to 12 7/8'' and looks better shortened

I got a body coming its going to be different

I put the Mutt wheels on and did a flex shot

I'm missing a 30mm post that connects the servo and steering knuckle

It is in the mail and should be here soon

Otherwise my front axle for my 1.9'' Wraith

Is ready to go

I'm working on some 1.9'' wheels for the Jeep Mutt and the Humvee

Need to figure out some tires and foams

I'm so freaking pissed off

The guy that I ordered my body for the Wraith

Paid for 2 or 3 day delivery its coming from Texas

It went to Las Vegas and left on time put instead of coming to my town

It goes 500 plus miles east ends up in Ely Nevada

I looked it up Ely NV is 89301

Where I live is Minden NV it is 89423

How does it end up in the town 500 miles in the wrong direction

So why bother paying for 2 or 3 day service when it won't be on time

I bought it thru E-bay using Pay Pal

Just like the 100 plus purchases before

My address is current and valid and verified

But there is that one that goes to the wrong XXXXXXX place

What really pissed me off is I checked the tracking and it said it was miss shipped

Then I check back later and they changed to it left Ely and it is on the way

My mail person has been here and gone so its not coming today

Again why pay for 2 or 3 day delivery when they don't give shit if its ever delivered

Cause I called the 1-800 number and my local post office and asked why did it go Ely and got bullshit or no answer and put back on hold

It just shows they could give a XXXX less

Update the assholes sent it back to Las Vegas which is 1,800 miles from me cause 500 miles to the east was not good enough

So now I have no XXXXXXX idea where my body is cause it left Vegas again

Why in the XXXX did go to Vegas in the first place I'm 1,800 miles from there

They can't figure out xxxxxxx zip codes

Wtf is going on

Where is my xxxxxxxx package

I mixed my own OD Green

It could be a little darker

Maybe it will darken once it dries

I like the shade it came out

I'm going to let it dry and cure

And then maybe shoot some flat clear

Over the chassis too help seal the paint

I'm hoping the post office will stop

Screwing around cause my body left Vegas for the second time

And probaly won't get it till next week

Monday the 23rd is birthday

So at least I get some thing too unwrap

If it even shows up
