My 6th Scale M151A2 Jeep Mutt

7 Attachment(s)
I got my second 6th scale

Its from 21st Century Toys

And I really like it

Its pretty bad ass

I parted out my second Wraith for the axles and skid plate

I like how I could use 1.9'' Rock Beasts or 2.2'' Rock Lizards or 2.2'' Badlands

They are the shortest 2.2'' plus I got 5 Rock Lizards so I could have a spare

Its 10'' wide by 19 1/8'' inches long

With a 14 1/4'' to 14 1/2'' wheel base depending where

You measure from or maybe its I'm just tired

Not sure if its possible to remove the hood

Cause it looks its all one piece

I need to look at motor forward plates or mounts

Here is some more pics

Of how far I got today

I removed the front and rear axles and Dremel-ed the plastic smoove

Hoping I can get some ideas from other 6th scale builders

Please comment and share your ideas

I figured out the chassis rails for my 6th scale Humvee

Which has a totally different under carriage than the Jeep Mutt

Re: My Jeep Mutt

So if I use a motor forward plate with transmission mount ??

Does that mean I also have to use a transfer case ??

Or maybe mount the motor and transmission centered in the chassis

Like a TF2 or similar design of transmission

And then cut out the bottom of the engine bay out

So the body drops down over it maybe

There ideas bouncing around in my head but nothing clicks

Does any body here no how to stretch

The wheel base on a Axial EXO

Cause it looks about a 1/2'' or more short

Not sure if I want to cut the chassis plate

Re: My 6th Scale M151A2 Jeep Mutt

I going to see if I can find a used RC4WD R2 single speed transmission that the motor mounts too

And read on the R2 you can change the output ratio by changing pinion gear sizes

If I use a 17 tooth pinion it gives you a 4:1 ratio

So if I use the R2 transmission

I will need a transfer case

but how do choose the out put ratio

I looked on line and there is

2.18:1

.75:1

1.45:1

1.47:1

1:1

I'm leaning towards the 1:1 ratio one

Correct ??

Yeah Baby

Lock and load

Rock and Roll

I got my action figures

I also got some ammo boxes

I could mount ammo box so the M60 looks like its belt feed

And put a couple ammo boxes in the bed

As much as it sickens me to think this aloud, the limited space under the model would almost work well with a MOA style of drive train. It would save the model from being hacked up to fit motor/trans/drive lines.

Re: My 6th Scale M151A2 Jeep Mutt

I found a used R2 Transmission cheap

I never dealt with motor on axles

Who makes them or whats a brand name so

So I can look at them

I spent 2 hrs looking through the archives for the 1/6 Mutt build I had seen once before, only to find something that wasn't even a MUTT. The build I had seen, showed that the builder was able to use an SCX10 trans/motor assembly that fit up into the tunnel without cutting into the body. Best I can say, is try it. If it works, it works, if not figure out a Plan B.

Re: My 6th Scale M151A2 Jeep Mutt

Thanks Mike

I looked too but only found one started build and very little pictures

I mocked it up with a spare set of SCX10 axles cause I been wanting a too try one

I'm going to use the SCX10 axles and make a 1.9' Wraith when I get around to making some new links

The Jeep and the Humvee are both too wide for the SCX10 axles even with the XR mod

I also have a GCM chassis with Toyota axles and leaf springs and they are not wide enough

I have seen a couple Willy's builds with the Toyota axles and leaf springs and they look good and scale

I Then tried the EXO chassis and its short and not liking how the body sits on top of the EXO chassis

I will use AR60 axles and if the guy with the R2 gets back to me

I also found a 1:1 transfer case its about the same size as the GCM 1:1 transfer case

And is very reasonably price too

need to figure out some thing

I seen Scalelover made a chassis and showed it with a Jeep body

And it looked very similiar too the underside of Mutt

I'm going to hit him up

Yeah Baby

I pulled the GCM motor forward plate and the GCM 1:1 transfer case

Out of my 4 Ten Chassis

And the transfer case fits snugly either way you flip it and mounted some how

And the motor forward plate could fit up inside the body

I'm going to look for aluminum plate

And fabricate my own motor plate

And maybe order another SCX10 transmission

I may still need to cut the hood

It should not be that hard

To make motor plate

The hardest parts I see is cutting the slot for adjustment of the gear mesh

It needs to done cleanly and be squarely

And drilling and tapping holes in the side to hold 3 mm cap screws

It could be a pain in the ass with a cordless drill

I don't have a drill press

I could trim out the area of the body

Where the motor and transmission are sitting in the earlier pictures

And put the motor plate in the chassis so the body drops over it

^ doll play ;-) ...having fun with your phobia ?

you've probably already scheduled for sex change surgery,
b muh guess :flipoff:

looks like a probable drive syst.
but doesn't the mtr/gearbox need mount on
the opposing side of the surface inside the engine bay ?
or is the hood too shallow to mount it to that surface ?
spill it... plus more pictures detailing

oh and not all claimed 1/6 scale toy vehicles are accurate
to the playscale GI Joe or similar 12" doll's.

IMO even some of the 1/6 Willy's I've seen look a tad too small
for a std 12" doll.
But there are some that look slightly bigger, close enough.
Likely some mfgr's get it closer.
Even RC scaling isn't anywhere near to being accurate..
so it mostly what's pleasurable to each builder's/user's eye.

doesn't matter if I think it looks stupid !? Lol ;-)

dolls r 4 wussy's, dolls r 4 wussy's, dolls r 4 wussy's, dolls r 4 wussy's

(remember) yer too masculine to be playing with dolls !?
calling them action figures only strokes yer phobic ego :flipoff:

btw the red headed joe looks more to scale in that hummer thang.

Your Funny Taco

I love the 6th bikes

That Harley and Indian

Were Bad ass

I seen a nice XR600 Desert Racer and a XR400 that was painted for military

And I also found another set of AR60 axle trusses that I could of sent you

I also found this its almost a complete SCX10 transmission

If I remember that the transmission with the stripped 2 mm screws on the output shafts and they are the old style with out the thru hole for pin on the Wild Boar drive shafts

And I found these HPI Diffs from a Mini Desert truck don't know why I'm keeping them

I can't find any 3/16'' X 2'' x 3'' aluminum flat stock

I have to order it and the shipping is XXXXXXXX crazy

Not paying it, the piece I need is a like $5.00 to $6.00

But the shipping is $15 to $18 dollars screw that

And I'm better off buying another SXC10 transmission then replace the parts in the one I found

And the guy with the R2 has not gotten back to me

The R2 may be the answer

Yeah baby

Anybody got a shoe horn

I don't need to cut a stinking hood

I used brute force and seperared the floor pan from the body

And it has room for the motor and transmission

I mocked up the tranny and motor going both ways

And it lines up better with the spur gear facing the fire wall

I cut out the tunnel all the way thru

Going to need some custom drive shafts

I figured how to add a little more horsepower and a little pick up

I been keeping this Blower for awhile

I kinda like it , it looks bad ass

It rained here today

So I was bored and wanted to see if I could

Make the SCX10 axles wide enough to fit the Jeep Mutt body

I had to use my Hutchison Beadlocks cause they are the only

1.9'' wheels I got that take SLW hubs

So I reversed the wheels and used the long plastic hub

That comes with Axial IFD 2.2'' wheels

Not sure how long the hub is

But it does work to space the axle enough to fit

Not sure I like it cause I don't trust the plastic hubs with the pin slots in them

Still would not run hub that wide

I'm going to look online

I might have to use the AR60 axles

And go with 1.9'' wheels cause I like the look

And I can use the spare tire mount

A 2.2'' is too big not sure I want to mount a 2.2'' spare in the bed

Cause it takes up too much room

I got my vintage gas can with the single handle

And the gas can cap comes off

Need to make a gas can holder that mounts to the bumper loop

Like the scale Willy's have

You know you have to much stuff

If you can scratch build a complete set of stock Wraith shocks

And set them at 100mm and the springs have a yellow color band

I have no idea where the yellow banded springs came from

Cause the other 3 sets of Wraith shocks had the red color band

I have too much shit
