Right now it sits too high but thats only as i piece this together. When its physically mounted to the chassis i will tune suspension to match it where it looks like a normal height.

Just basic cuts and mocked up.

This just showed up at my doorstep. Damn is this thing big haha

Im not into spending heaps on this so ill use styrene later to tunnel the tranny and hide it.

Can somebody help me here....
How are you guys mounting this body to a chassis?

Seems only mounting point is up front on the flat portion & even that seems limited. With the firewall that hardly can be justified because it not actually part of the jeep, its a piece of plastic glued the body from Hasbro?

Rear mount wasnt too bad... ?
The front one ..still not sure yet with that firewall not actually physically part of the body itself? In a roll over i think may snap this section out?

Still no front mount but got the suspension whereabouts i want.

Battery tucked away...

Ill get this custom motor i made years ago in this jeep.

1st test run turned out pretty good. Some tweaks needed but overall i am satisfied.

What I did to mount the chassis to the body is I used a couple of 1" x 1" L brackets on the rear ( post # 19), and flat 1" x 1" l brackets on the front, but I had to bend one side of the L bracket 90 degrees to connect between the chassis and the grill ( post # 40, you can see the side of it), "New Project (for me)"

Another question is how do you guys keep the hood closed while driving?
If this took a bad roll i think it would destroy the hood?

Your Jeep and mine are different than the later model Hasbro jeeps, that a lot of these guys have. Mine still has the tab on the front of the hood, that holds well, even in a rollover. That tab slides in to the center grill slot, if you still have it on yours. If not, you can use a couple small rare earth magnets, (Home Depot, Menards), glue to the underside of the hood, and use a couple small metal brackets attached to the grill. You may need to only use one though, those magnets are strong.

When I first built my Jeep, I was running a Hi-Tec 645mg, and ran into the same issue, servo would bind up , or wouldn't turn the 2.2's when I needed it to, also the Jeep had gotten heavier with the addition of Joe and Barbie, and scale accessories. I'm now running a Savox SA-1231S, 444oz digital servo, around $60. No more steering issues, and no binding problems.

I saw you had questioned about what kind of glue to use, on another thread. When I used styrene to make the new trans tunnel, boxed in the rear shock towers, and made a rear body panel, I used Testor's model cement. No problems, nothing coming apart, and I've taken some bad tumbles. CA would probably be better, but use a slow or medium setting CA, so you can move pieces around if you have to, before it sets.

I cut the side mounted spare mount (original plastic) off the side of mine, and tried using the Testor's to mount it on the rear of the body, but ended up tearing it off when the spare tire got caught on a rock...didn't damage or tear off the rear body panel, only the spare tire mount. Tried CA glue after that, and tore it off a second time!, LOL. Finally ended up making a steel wraparound rear bumper, with a vertical piece of metal for the spare mount.

Managed to go buy more steel sheet and fab up the other floorboard.

Now to physically mount the floorboard to the jeep body. This will further secure it. Also allows for wires to be tucked under the seats without hanging below the chassis.

Todays trials....lol

Knowing my servo is weak i take it out for some articulation runs. But...
Trying to tackle this task put the strain on the servo and burns it up and strips it. Haha

What a tank this jeep is. Lol i also have the wheels weighted. Off to the shop to buy a 400oz-tq servo

Also bracing my towers as the Apache C1 shocks i installed this morning tend to pull them outwards.

Mine came without a steering wheel too, I cannibalized the steering wheel from a doorless 1/6 Avalanche, and the steering shaft was made from one of the original axles I cut off from the stock Jeep.
