I'm going to call and check on my Jeep order

I got RC4WD first generation Toyota axles with springs on a the GCM 4Ten chassis and willing to adapt it to the Dragon Jeep

I got SCX10 axles and figured out away to mount leaf springs to the axles or I could four link them

And I got a set of AR60 axles off my 2nd Wraith and could four link them

Just need the Jeep to figure out my chassis setup and which axles I want to use

I'm leaning towards 1.9'' wheels and tires

I have to built a chassis or sub frame for the 1/6 scale Jeep Mutt and use a transfer case

Doing the Dragon first might help me figure out the Jeep Mutt

They both need chassis's and use transfer cases

The waiting is really starting to suck now and starting to piss me off

That people that have been waiting as long as me are getting their Jeeps

And there not even returning my e-mails now and they are still taking pre-orders

I could be waiting even longer and if I ask for a refund, I would have to wait for my refund and have to re-order some where else and wait again

So Lucky you got yours

But dam it your pictures did not post again

I'm waiting to smell the box when I open mine

WTF Bitter End now there is even more

Of your pictures missing in you build now

I looked to see if you posted your new Dragon

And there is minus signs every where

There is something XXXXXXX wrong with your camera or phone

Cause if I mine are too big, it says in a window it will not post

Mine have never done the minus sign

So I have no idea what's going on with your pics

The minus sign never happened to me

The just don't post

Your's act like there posting, Right ?? but your getting the minus sign

I can't sleep so I did some looking on line

And I found this G-made Sawback replacement chassis that has a 11.3'' wheelbase

I could stretch the chassis rails in the middle or shorten them in the middle

Cause I'm going to be using a transfer case and I could modify the stock skid plate/motor/transmission mount

It uses leaf springs not sure if there the same as the Tamiya leaf springs, or if their the same length or if the arc's are the same as the Tamiya springs

The Sawback chassis is closer to a Jeep body then the Bruiser chassis is

Plus the Sawback chassis's are available and a lot cheaper

And I also found this Chassis steering servo mount, they make a couple different ones

Not sure if it would work cause I want to use a motor forward plate

Going to check out before I pull the trigger on a chassis

Does anybody know what the wheel base of a 1/6 Dragon Jeep is

I'm talking about center of rear wheel well to center of the front fender

Can some one please tell the wheel base of a 1/6 scale Dragon Jeep

Cause I don't know how much longer I have got to wait for my Jeep

I could already have the frame ordered and delivered and mods started

By the time the Jeep is here

I think I can stretch the wheel base from 11.3'' to what I need to get the right wheel base

Yeah baby

Plastic-Models-Kits.com is now OakrigdeHobbies.com

They changed their website and business

It took a little while but

They got my question and sent me a e-mail

Saying the Ordering Manager called to check the status

They should have them by the end of this week

And my order will ship as soon as possible

Cause I was going to call and check on my order

Until they sent me a e-mail today

Yeah baby

I will be smelling the box soon

For that new plastic Jeep smell

Yeah Baby

Hi Kgb424:

I have a factory-built 1/16 Dragon Desert Raider; the base kit is the same for all the Dragon Jeep variants as far as I know. Have been saving it for some future build.

The wheel base center front axle to center rear axle is 13 5/16 inches. Track front with stock tires and wheels is 8 3/8 inches, rear 8 1/2 inches. My Dragon ETO build which I posted hear a couple of years ago had the same dimensions before I modified it.

Good Luck, Mati

Thank you MatiR

So 13 5/16, is close to a Wraith wheel base, depending on the which rod ends you use

Cause at one time my Wraith had 13 1/2 wheel base, I used the same links but changed out the rod ends and it shorted the wheelbase

Can you tell what axles are you using, and are they four linked or are you using leaf springs

I will have to try the SCX10 and AR60 and the RC4WD Toyota axles

To see their widths with my 1.9'' Hutchinson beadlocks and my 1.9'' Voodoo KLR

That I'm going to use

MatiR

You are using a version of the OG Tamiya axles that are four linked, with a chassis mounted servo

I have a set of RC4WD first generation Toyota axles with the Tamiya leaf springs

And was hoping my Toyota axles are the same width as yours

Cause I want to make a spring setup or four link and use SCX10 or Ar60's axles

There nice axles but not spending $230 to $250 on axles

210 MM is about 8 1/4'' wide

So when I get my Dragon

I will mock it up with the different axles and beadlocks

To see which combo puts the wheel in the fender wells

And not too close to chassis or stick passed the wheel wells

I think it comes down to personnel preference on which axles people use

Cause I have seen 1/6TH scale Jeep builds with AR60's and SCX10's axles and Second generation Toyota axles

And what ever axles they decided to use

Need to check it out

What kinda of glue due you use for the body and kit assembly

Hi Kgb424:

I used Tamiya Extra Thin cement https://www.tamiyausa.com/items/pain...n-cement-87038 for most parts and Tamiya regular thicker liquid for large areas. These have always worked well for me, especially the extra thin as you can apply it with a fine brush (included in the cap) and just let it wick in between parts by capillary action giving very neat and clean joints. In addition, bonding is almost instantaneous but, of course, full strength needs some extra time.

However, as the kit material is just regular styrene plastic used in normal model kits (not Lexan like the usual RC bodies) , any manufacturer's plastic glue will work.

I have some Plastruct Bondene and not impressed with it

I also have some Tenax 7 it works better but still not the best

The only glue I found that work great every time is Super Glue

I also found lightly sanding both pieces before bonding

Make a stronger joint

The extra thin Tamiya cement

Is like Insta-Cure Cyanoacrylate or super glue correct ??

I will have to look at a Hobby Shop

Tamiya extra thin cement is a typical solvent cement which bonds by essentially melting one piece to another.

Super glue is cyanoacrylate based but do not use it to bond plastic in general. It is, however, useful for attaching small bits, especially not plastic, here and there.

Plastruct cement is also solvent and should work but now that you mention it, I seem to recall years ago trying it and not being satisfied. I think that the Plastruct line of plastic shapes and sheets are slightly differ from typical styrene and perhaps the formula is geared toward them - not sure about that though.

I have never been let down by the Tamiya extra thin and regular consistency cements.

I bought 2 of these Tamiya Extra Thin Cements

I want try it on some of part trees from the kit

And see how it bonds and see how long the set up time is

Before I start the gluing the Jeep kit together
