Best crawler motor for my 1/6th willys

So I'm building a willys... And have been looking at the tekin pro4 motor... And then started hearing it was not the best or eazyest to get it to craw... Then the I heard of the Roc 412... But i also heard it is only has about the same amount of wheel spin that a 55t has... And i would like more than that. What's your guys opinions... I already have the rx8 gen 2 esc.. So there you have it.

I ran an Integy 35t in mine and it crawled well, and had wheel speed when I needed it. Jeep weight was 14.5 lbs.

The tekin roc 412's are great. It all depends on what kv you decide on and battery voltage. Bigger the rig, the lower kv you wanna go for. Depends on rig weight and crawling type.

I ran a Pro4 3300kv and a Roc412 3100kv. Both were awesome. Both had a ton more spin than a 55t. Like Zerba said, batteries will definitely change output!

Why do I want a lower kv? I'm guessing the rig will be about 10 to 17 lbs. Isn't a lower kv =less wheel spin or more tourqe? Please explain how that works. High kv=what and low kv =what.

And your opinion which was the better craw Motor? The pro 4 or the Roc 412

I'm also just thinking that I'll just do a twin hammer and set it up with one pro 4 and one Roc 412. And just disengage one pinion or the other depending on what the drive style is at the time.

I still have a brushed Holmes Hobby 35T "torque master" in my Willys.

Generally speaking, the lower the kv, the more torque. The Roc is built for crawling and the specifics are a bit beyond me. I had NO issues with the torque of the Pro4. In fact, I did like it more. A lot depends on gearing also. Either motor will make make it faster than most people want...but not me! There is not a thing wrong with a good 'ol brushed motor.

My 1/6 Raptor has 1/8 2000 KV with 120 amp hobbywing. Its crawls well on 2 cell and has good wheel speed when i need it. I do use this as tow rig so thats why i went with 1/8 sys.
My 1/6 Jeep has AE5 and 45T Tekin running 3 cell. It crawls great and has good wheel speed to do scale crawling with.

Re: Best crawler motor for my 1/6th willys

I have 2 of them roc412s. I have the 1200kv and the 1800kv. Current rig I am working on will get the 2300kv.

Tell us more about the rig and the wheelspeed you require. My blind recommendation on 3s for a trailtruck is a 2300kv. Technical crawling or avoiding breakage would be a 1800kv. Only difference is wheelspeed. Startup Torque of either motor is almost identical and far exceeds brushed. Gearing almost doesnt matter. I use a mmp for my esc.

Both of mine stay cool/cold during use.

Re: Best crawler motor for my 1/6th willys

Well this sounds funny but I want to run a twin hammer setup. I want to be able to really get some(flat out move) if you know what i mean and craw. Oh and off subject I'm needing some 90mm shocks. What are some good ones. And they need to be some what small in diameter like for example the wraith 100 mm shocks are too large in diameter.
