Your right the bender is not very good, its says its for bending fuel line

so it bends the thin hollow tubing, maybe brake line

There is better benders and will see what kind of tubing

I can find locally, then look online

I found this one at Harbor Freight

it does solid rod and tubing 1/4'' to 2''

its $90 bucks, so if I were you too use more than once

then it might be worth buying

Plus you got to anchor it, and I'm not drilling holes in my shop floor

...well that one is better for sure

but the question is...

will it bend the radius without creating a flat spot at the bend (radius).
I don't know how well this unit works, so I can't say.

A trick for minimizing the flattening of the tube during a radius bend
is to pack the tube with sand or similar.

Quality benders cost upwards of $ 200.
And that doesn't include the cost of the dies.

I don't think HF sells a quality tube bender...
but then I haven't looked either.

But yeah... not something one purchases for just a single job.
and is likely why I haven't made any investment.

Probably cheaper just to find someone whom
has a quality bender... and offers custom work.

Pay a vendor to custom bend/fabricate your cage.
...is probably what I'd do if I needed one.

Realize that skill and use of a quality tool...
does not come cheap.

I would think one of the vendors on this forum could assist.
Tho' you may need to mail the whole she-bang to them
and it likely won't be inexpensive to produce.
So get ready for the sticker shock ! Lol

But at least you can still have some input
as to what material is used and how it's designed.

I'm cheap... because I'm personnaly in it for the challenge.
I don't make any attempt with regards to making profit.

I also don't learn a trade for others...
I only do that for my personal hobbies.

Personally custom work for others is not my cup of tea.
Even tho' I helped you out in the past.

Unfortunately for you...
I haven't chosen to mess with bending tube for anything.
So I've not invested the time or money required for learning.

And so... I would be of no help to you regarding your wants/needs.

Since you haven't conquered welding yet...
Why would you think to tackle this bending attempt ?

You crack me up
'cause yer generally un-reasonable in your approach to things.

Doing something half - assed is okay for learning...
but it often doesn't yield good final results...
at least not until after you get it figured out.

good luck with it.

Love to help you... but I'm not going there.

I'm not giving up on the 3D printed windshield

I found out up at the College they got Solidworks and its on the desktops in the CADD lab

I need to contact the instructor and see if he will let me use the lab or if not wait until January when

The CADD classes are offered again then Lab is open,

if I can get the windshield printed than I would need a simple roll bar

or cage, and not all extra tubing making a fake windshield

well now I'm frustrated

I found my copy of Bobcad 21 which is a CADD/CAM software that I'm familiar with, cause I used to write and edit and stretch, programs for my CNC classes

This was before 3D printing went commercial and industrial, so that could be why its not working

And it does not support STL files or STEP files and is 2D and can't make solid models

I downloaded some software that is free and was recommended to me, So I installed it, it opens the STL and the STEP file

lets me rotate it, and change views, this is not my first Rodeo, and for the life of me, it won't let edit it or make changes

So I don't know, and it pisses me off that, I'm not being able to edit the file or find people that know how to do it

just sucks 3D printing software is CADD/CAM software with the controllers for all the new printer that came out after I was taking classes

I don't get and I know I'm smart enough and persistent enough too get to a Military style windshield printed

man this sucks

Well I really don't know what I'm doing

But I did screw around with Bobcad and came up

with this, it removed the solid modeling but you cannot edit it

Cause I don't know how I did it, it was by accident

I tried the other CADD program here is how it looks shaded

I did get it to go wire frame mode but don't you can't edit it

Enough screwing around

Now for something completely different

I got my 2 1/8'' steering wheel

And its pretty nice for $9 and free shipping

I ordered a second one and the last one they had for my 1/6th scale

Humvee cause, its got a extra Wraith wheel that is the wrong scale and too small

And I better correct before Taco Bell starts giving me shit

That Wraith steering wheel is not too scale and how I need to do my math

you and your math too

I reject your reality

And interject my own

That's right

I'm in my own little world

And hail to the King Baby

Shop smart shop S Mart

You got that

It just got Really real, cause I found one of these and been wanting one

I was looking for 1/6th scale parts, hoping to find a 2002 Hasbro Willy's windshield

Found a couple 7000 series Jeep windshields that were sold but still listed

And I found this 21st Century Toys, WC57 Command car

its the convertible version not the Patton version

The Patton's version has got a full soft top, Command Flags on the hood and air horns on the front fender

I like the convertible version better, not as fancy as the Patton version

Its got a driver, machine gun and rear trunk tool kit

Its very nice for less than $100 with free shipping

I had to pull the trigger or I would be kicking my own ass

After I was out bid on a nice Patton Version and a WC truck version was way too expensive, even before the bidding started

I grabbed it in a instant, no bidding, pay now, I just about shit my self

Cause shit, like this don't all ways happen for me, I'm usually screwed twice somehow

Loving karma, right now, this thing is sweet

Shop smart
The King Baby obviously does live in 'is own world

$ 9.00 for a plastic steering wheel ? seriously ?

But hey why not double down on that insanity...
$ 18.00 for two plastic steering wheels ! ? wow

Lol... smart isn't the word I was thinking of

Hopefully you bought 'dem all..
so's I 'ave no reason to piss away $ 9.00

I see you purchased another useless toy/project as well.
Don't you already have enough useless/unfinished toys ?

gawldamn you must have too much money to burn
and no room remaining in yer wallet for any wisdom

You should probably seek counselling with a shrink...
maybe they'll find a solution to your impulse purchases.

--------------

btw yer last post's pictures are blurry as fark.
I'm not even sure what I'm looking at !? Lol

carry on

Look at the pictures of the steering wheel more closely

You blind ass bastard, there cast aluminium and said more than once they were cast

So you can't see or read either

I need one for the Willy's and one for the Humvee

And the pictures of the Command Car

Were taking by the seller

And there not that bad

Maybe you need your glasses adjusted

you old fart

Eat some carrots with your Taco's

and hold your magnifying glass closer to your monitor

So you can see

I got screwed

The WC57 is not 1/6th scale its 1/18th scale

Cause it the same size as my little Humvee, which fits in the bed of 1/6th scale Humvee

And you see the size difference when its sitting next to my 1/6th scale Jeep Mutt

Its nice though and looked at the ad again and it does not mention the scale

Its my bad cause, I saw a WC57 Command Car and it was cheap

So I grabbed it

Doah

I got my Hasbro Willy's today

And I like, I can now see, why so many people covert them to Rock Crawlers

Cause there nice, Mine is the none opening hood version but that's ok

And the 2 1/8'' cast steering wheel, looks to be about the right size or scale

I need to drill a bigger hole in the center and it will look good after I paint it

Tomorrow I might pull the frame off and take the hood off

I got five of these 1.9'' SuperShafty Dog Dish Wheels

That I won on here in a drawing and I bought second set of 4 before they were discontinued

I'm going to paint them with Etchless primer then a couple coats of OD Green and then some Flat Clear

Just like I did my Hutchinson Beadlocks, the Hutchinson's look good with black hardware and some Flat Clear

Not sure, if I want the nuts out or maybe the Button Head screws out, which ever looks better to me

I could use my 1.9'' Hutchinson's Beadlocks or my 1.9'' GearHead Racer 6's, and my old school 1.9'' RC4WD Wagon wheels, That are for my Yoter Crawler and look good on the Yoter

I'm leaning torward the SuperShafty wheels

I need to paint a Dog Dish and see how it looks, I'm thinking they would look pretty good

Yeah I didn't read yer typed gibberish fully.
Make you happy ?

Metal steering wheel does what for $ 9.00 ?

Plan on steering using your fingers on the steering wheel ?

I suppose they'll be stronger then plastic might be...
tho' I'm not sure why that's of any real concern ?

Does your GI Joe white knuckle the steering wheel harder then mine does ?

I remember some of the '50s Buddy line toy trucks had metal steering wheels...
But those were push along and mechanical steer/linked toy trucks for kids.

They needed be stronger steering wheels...
'cause kids were rough on chit when they played with 'dem.

what's yer excuse ? ...still haven't grown up ? Lol

Will you be purchasing more useless micro scale war vehicles ?
I think you need waste more of yer monies on useless collections. Lol

Yer doll collection is growing btw

I think you need purchase a doll house next
so's they have their own home

No No No they are the only 2 1/8'' steering wheels I could find

There replacements, a replacement is better than no freaking steering at all

And what are you doing up this late, your usually in bed right after your early bird or blue plate special

At around 4:30pm and your out cold by 5:10 pm as your artheritis medine kicks in

Due they let you stay up this late at the old ****s home

You old ****

I helped a friend install a new gas stove and the matching microwave that goes underneath a cabinet and a new dishwasher

And his son has this R/C that he brought home recently, he traded some other kid for it, And his Dad and me were not allowed to try it out

The kids not dumb he knew his dad and I would bash it good

It would make a nice 1/6th or bigger, I told his son if it gets broke I want it,

Somebody other than me could make sick Monster or Mud Truck or a Big Basher

Or just some sick shit, like Twisted makes with big ass tires

I will take better pictures, when his son its not around, so I can pick it up and take pictures, he not letting anybody check it when I was there

I want to look at the blown motor and check it out it could fit my Wiily's Jeep

The Mutt is about the same size as the as the Dragon

My Humvee is even bigger than the Mutt and Dragon

Mike how are the leaf spring hangers attached, I seen you filled in the rails

on trailer, did you use 2 part plastic resin, I was thinking about using JB Weld

To fill the chassis frame and trailer rails, You do see a lot of people using JB Weld

I think its because it expands or its too expensive

Will have to look at 2 part plastic resin
