Yes Dave the tire goes right into the fender. Maybe a little too much, but I don't know if I'll build some wideners or not yet. I'll take a pic from the side ;) |

Rear suspension is done There's a little trimming needed, but all the part are in place. I'll probably will end with different springs. These are a bit too soft. The suspension is almost all compressed with the body on it. Yes but the front even seems to be completed. Over the 1:8 rear buggy shocks I placed the front shock's springs. It's just an idea, but this should give me the low ride height and allow lot of droop. I simulated the narrowed rims and the tires are at the right position without any widener. The wider tires give me room for the shocks in standard position. Flexing Not too bad for a scale rig isn't it? Opinions? |

Not a big update here but something happens. Well as I said the rear springs were too soft to support the rig weight. I replaced them with the 1:8 front ones using the system AdamF shared. It works great. Artic isn't affected, but the rig is raised a bit. I've lowered the body then. I replaced the front springs even with longer ones with same stiffness. Now the ride height is set at somthing around 5 inches of center clearance. I worked on the steering and this is the result. The f****** digicam's battery died when I was taking some close-ups. It seems to work fine with a very little amount of bump steer. If someone has something to suggest to limit it I'll appreciate, but I think I've done the maximum. I built the rear steering lockout even and moved the T-case with the motor for the first time. It seems to work fine. ;) |

Thanks Bender Yes it's big and if you see it in person you would find it bigger than you expected I think the tires are perfect scale. They should be 35" in real life. I'm only scared about the cutting. BTW Digicam is charged ;) Body is still to be secured, but it won't take so much. Naked shot Steering close up. Consider that here the frame is higher than it should be at ride heght. There's not the weight of the body on it. Sterring rods angle is thinner. Tranny and T-case. Skidplate Rear steering lockout. These are some shot I took for the one interested in bumpe steer and frame mounted servo: That the ride height That's at full extended bump steer is a lot Remember I set up the suspension to have a lot of droop and a bit of compression. Fully compressed Articulating Hope this could help I'm currently working on the shifting servo, then I think I could have a test run I decided I'll test with not so low gearing first. I'm gonna test this thing at 67,45:1 in first and 41,89:1 in second. I'm gonna use the 16T motor shown in the pics, only one for thje moment. I still have to decide where to mount the battery. I see 3 options, but I'm open to suggestions. The more confortable position is probably on the body under the rear seats, but this mean a high position that surely will affect CG. Not only, this is a crawler even if a scale one, so add weight to the rear is not a good idea. Another position is between the rear frame rails. Similar to the previous but lowered by 2/5 inches (more or less). The third position is low, I'm gonna build some side skidplates that will go from the frame to the lowest side of the body. Battery could be placed there, but I'm thinking about having the battery weight on one side. I could use 2 battery as well... I have to think harder |

This picture is almost too good. A nice bumper on the front and a scale winch would be the icing on the cake. Ecellent job. A good photochop of someone in the picture to scale would make it even more believable. |

Thanks guys ;) Sorry man I'm not going to mass produce it. There will be front and rear bumper, winch (functional of course), Spyder customs style rollcage. At least these the plans Here are some other shots. Ops I'm not sure the body will last a lot if I'll keep driving like I do Fenders are scratched, and as you can see I need a bumper soon ;) Suddenly something looks wrong in the rear end Quick investigation shows me this, I asked too much to one ball end ;) Even the threaded rod that keep the ball ends in place are too small for the weight of the rig. I think I'll replace with bigger ones. This thing is so heavy I'm thinking to add a second motor ;) |

Thanks ;) I just realized that now there's a "scale rig" forum here. It wasn't when I started the project Can someone move this into the proper location? |
